Computer hangs

My computer hangs after some time as uTorrent is open.

I know where the problem lies, I have a D-Link DWL-G132 wireless USB adapter which is not working with uTorrent. Every time the computer hangs I have to restart the computer by pressing the reset button and then I have to remove and reinsert the USB adapter into the cradle in order to be able to connect to internet.

Is there any way I can get around this problem? or do I have to wait for a newer version of uTorrent and hope that this problem is fixed?

I have only AVG antivirus and the windows XP SP2 firewall nothing else.

I just looked at the guide, but I dont have any problems with the speed or internet connection or software hangings as such, the entire computer freezes.

I should maybe add that as I am connecting to internet through a cable (not wireless) I dont face any problems.

I have tried to reduce the maximum download speed and maximum connections in uTorrent, this did not work.

Might be some other software causing interference, also, D-Link is known to have some crap equipment. Can you get an HJT and PE log as specified here?

Update drivers, and remove any additional software for your connection this dlink dongle provides is my suggestion. The Windows driver/wizard for wireless is all you need to get internet. :/ The logfiles will provide more context.

I hope you will find the problem in this.. since I tried the suggested, to not use D-Link software for the wireless connection and update the drives, without sucess.

they're not necessary to GET your wifi working right? The point of this exercise is to 1) isolate the problem to wifi whether it's hardware or software related, and then 2) see if connecting wired removes this problem, thereby isolating the wifi as the culprit... meaning the USB drivers must be updated or you need to use an on-board/card wifi adapter.

USB drivers can cause any number of insatbility issues. Especially if it's not just uT freezing but the whole computer
