dr electron
Using utorrent 1.7.7 with Vista basic. I have a Buffalo WHR-G125 router which I'm wired to. I've followed all the setup instructions and ideas and still have a yellow network icon. The best speed I can get is @35 down and 20 up. When I try the web sites "Canyouseeme", etc. they tell me they can't. I've used Bitcomet and had no problems with its speed. Port forwarding for both programs, in the router, is set up exactly the same except for a different port number. I'm on bellsouth DSL. I've also tried different port numbers. Any ideas????? jewelisheaven
BitComet doesn't care about forwarding, it uses alternate methods for getting connections. You're wired to a router and setup the buffalo correctly, however you may have to deal with your modem's built-in firewall. Is it listed @ http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm as a "gateway" or otherwise showing it has modem+firewall capabilties? dr electron
That helped some, hovering around 70 kB up, peaking at 100, but now I have the red icon. I've re-booted everything twice. Thanks for the modem info.
jewelisheaven
Well depending upon your speedtest values... that may be best you can do. If you've got 1Mbit down, definitely so. Not sure about upload efficiency ... how close are you to your up limit ?? and what is it lol
dr electron
Sorry I meant 70-100 down. Later last night it peaked at 150 down but I still have the red icon. I used to get bitcomet up to 500 down regularly.
Switeck
uTorrent lives, breathes, and DIES by how well it can upload. What is your upload settings and how fast is uTorrent uploading? If it's not uploading at or near upload max speed, the problem may be quite severe!
