hofshi
does anyone know if BT Engine:http://www.cnet.com.au/downloads/info.htm?swid=10439738works well with µtorrent, and if it enhances performance?
BlackLion
hof, those things dont work, they never have, and they never will if your client if worth its salt.
1c3d0g
Agreed. Stay far away from those things! :/
Inf
I wonder what those things really do. Acting as some evil botnet ? Or maybe just collecting email addresses and phoning home :-)
IM-HO-TEP
They connect you to more seeders, seem to work for me!
hofshi
what do the devs think about this?
Firon
Looks like a bunch of BS.Especially the claim that "But we could not connect to all BitTorrent seeds under most conditions. Which decreased the download speed.", since in big swarms where you couldn't, most of the bandwidth comes from peers, not seeds.I think it's the same snake oil crap that those TUNE UP YOUR PC POWER PRO 2006 AMAZESOFT UTILITY things are. Here's a picture to describe it:

Ultima
@Firon: lol I love that animation -- looks like every dumb privacy-protector-application ad out there put in one xD
BlackLion
LOLOLOLOL nice Firon, seems like 10 years of crap in a time capsule Like I said, it makes NO sense to use a third party software to help you to do what the program you are using is intended to do anyway....there is nothing that it can do for you that bt cant do already....and that has nothing to do with the client. Im sure the devs will tell you the same thing i did....its garbage, dont use it.
1c3d0g
That animation is exactly what I was telling people about. Great find, Firon!
phaelox
Firon: I laughed so hard when I saw that animation! I registered on the forums to say: thanks for the laugh. And excellent way of informing people about these crap little "tuneup" programs.
