Anthegon
Hello.I wasn't really sure where to post this... I'm currently using uT on a server type hardware, using a real 100Mbps connection to internet, and remotly connected by Terminal Server. I'm currently using Windows 2003 R2.Here's my issue : The general usage is not great, as uT tend to be unstable & crash (or make the server crash) at some point in time. I've browsed the forum already for advices, which i found some and helped me a great deal already. So far i changed the Advanced option "net.low_cpu" to true, slowed the GUI refresh rate to 2, used the TCP/IP patch to change the maximum number of half-open connection to 50, keeping uT half open configuration to 8 tho. Also used /console on the TS client. All of that made the whole lots more stable. Still, uT using about 70% of my CPU when GUI being open, but only 10% when in tray. I have speeds of about 1 to 3 Mb/s in dl & up.Any more advice you could give me to make uT more stable? or configuration advices? Thanks in advance. jewelisheaven
Hard drives are running UDMA? Be sure you're not seeing Disk Overloaded... Stability is more to do with networking drivers.
Anthegon
UDMA mode 5 is enabled. The issue is more when the GUI is open. If, per example, i have a 2 Mb/s download and a 3 Mb/s upload, as soon as i open the GUI to check how things are going, everything slows down to 500 Kb/s and the CPU usage reach 100%.As soon as i close uT to tray, not having the window active anymore, CPU usage drops down to 5-15% and transfer speeds rise again...CPU is Intel Celeron 2.66Ghz and i got 1 Gb Ram... so i'm a bit puzzled on what's the issue. Anthegon
What firon said oodly enough i got no crash since hours now... even tho with a 5 Mb/s transfer, i only have 50% CPU load when GUI is open...Ah well, seems like it sorted itself. Thanks anyway
Firon
That CPU load still seems rather high.Perhaps your IDE/SATA controllers have reverted back to PIO mode (and the crashes might be because of disk errors).

Is the GUI so intensive?
Switeck
The GUI shouldn't be that intensive on CPU load.Try Process Explorer and see what DLLs have injected themselves into uTorrent's exe process.

jewelisheaven
Nothing injected....You're using in-uT translation to your natural language? There are reports of this .. but I'm thinking it has more to do with something different about 2k3 and display.... just like trying to display movies over RDP pumps out up to a magnitude more of data than the video file, maybe something is causing a spike in CPU.How fast is the CPU you're running 2k3 R2 on? ... or it could be related to whatever else is causing the comp to crash. We really should resolve that first. With the minimal apps running.. it certainly sounds like driver-related issue due to the network access uT causes.
Switeck
jewelisheaven is right...all I see are Microsoft DLLs.So no clues there, I hope others can help...as I can't really offer much else.
Firon
This is kind of silly, but have you enabled hardware acceleration of video in the display properties?
Anthegon
@ Jewelisheaven : Using english language, didn't change anything into that section really. The CPU is a 2.66Ghz Intel Celeron@ Firon : i'm not sure... is there a way to check trought Terminal Server? I don't have physical access to the server at the moment.Edit : Got someone to do it for me. Hardware accelaration wasn't activated, but is now. Does it matter in TS mode tho? Will keep checking on it, but so far i had more than 24h without a crash. Cheers!
jewelisheaven
Firon to the rescue... hardware acceleration isn't normally something one has to play with after the install. Cheers to him.
