claxx Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Pretty often when I close uTorrent the process is still going and sometimes when I close uTorrent it doesnt answer. In both cases I have to reboot the computer if I want it to work and its really anoying. This happens maybe every two time I use uTorrent and I havent had this problem before. I use Windows Vista
claxx Posted June 12, 2008 Author Report Posted June 12, 2008 Yes I do. But I also had it when I used Windows XP
DreadWingKnight Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Does the problem persist with ZoneAlarm uninstalled?
Firon Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Zone Alarm is a terrible firewall. It prevents the process from shutting down and does other weird things, like crashing your PC and screwing up most P2P.Uninstall and switch to something better, like Comodo firewall.
claxx Posted June 12, 2008 Author Report Posted June 12, 2008 I havent tried it without Zone Alarm. Is the best alternativ Comodo Firewall? or is there another free firewall that is better?
GTHK Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Best I know of, and this forum has instructions for configuring it to allow µTorrent.
Firon Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 It's the best I can think of. And it's also free.If you'd like to pay for something, Outpost works well too, but it doesn't really offer anything over Comodo.
lager19 Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 Great tip about Zone Alarm & Comodo. I use Vista home premium (32) & had problems with utorrent shutting down - it just wouldn't via the normal application exit, and I could not kill the process. I removed Zone Alarm and installed Comodo - problem gone.
Ultima Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 ZA went down the drain a long while back. Probably started around the time Checkpoint bought it up (or at the least, it must have accelerated in its downward spin somewhere around then).
