Windows media player tries to open when I download a file, PLEASE HELP

I'm running vista and I've downloaded lots of files thru mininova but now every time I try to download a file Windows media player pops up and tries to play it

This has effectively disabled my utorrent and I'm pissed and I have tried everything.

Who ever gives me the correct solution for this will recieve a new guitar.

Help me make Utorrent work again.

Someone missed this step when setting up their server.

IE sucks sometimes too.

I have really enjoyed using Utorrent but now it seems that I will never be able to use it again. For God sakes someone please help me.

right-click and copy the url from the page, then use "add torrent from url" in uT.

Okay I'm not familiar with OpenOffice, what do I have to do , download it like I did Utorrent??

Choose 2.4.1 -> windows -> english.

Does it try to open in uT?

Torrents going straight into WMP means you did NOT follow the uT won't open torrents even though I associated torrents with it steps.

Check your windows associations and the associations settings in the browser like the section I specifically linked to says to.

This is so weird, I got it to work and now it doesnt work any more back to square one, still keeps popping into WMP

well that didnt work either, I appreciate your help but every time I try to download ANYTHING windows media player rears its ugly head and I guess I'm just cursed..

OKAY , RESTORING MY SYSTEM TO AN EARLIER VERSION HAS COMPLETELY ELIMINATED THE PROBLEM!!

Re-associate .torrent files with µTorrent by opening ut's prefs and clicking the button.
