Crash after any message dialog

I have downloaded µTorrent 1.7.7 Stable. After installation µTorrent asked me about association with .torrent files (notice: tere is a checkbox "Always perform this check"). No mater what I select - µTorrent crashes:

(I picked up this image from some thread on this forum. My error message looks the same).

No matter what I select in this error dialog -> the next moment a standart Windows "Application has encountered a problem" dialog appears. After I submit error report to MS µTorrent disappears. I was unable to send crash report to you. When I select "Submit this dump" - nothing happens and standart Windows crash dialog appears.

Then I run it again - the same question, the same crash. And again, and again... Nothing.

Then I downloaded µTorrent 1.8 Release Candidate 1.

After installation µTorrent did not asked me anything. Worked fine (I haven't tested any download/upload capabilities, just browsed through settings). And then I tries to close it. An exit confirmation dialog poped up (with checkbox)! And no matter what I select - µTorrent crashes again! The same scheme as above - the µTorrent error dialog, then Windows error dialog, then - dead application. After I had manually disabled this confirmation dialog in the settings window, µTorrent started to shutdown correctly.

Now I am too scared to even touch µTorrent :)

Is there anything I can do to help you with identification of the problem? Are these crashes somehow related to those message dialogs with checkboxes?

My OS is WinXP SP3, Windows firewall is enabled, no other firewall is installed, I have Symantec AntiVirus with latest updates (and, sorry, I will not disable it or uninstall).

I think I have found the reason. uTorrent seems somehow conflict with MouseImp (http://www.mouseimp.com/). uTorrent is the first program that conflicted with MouseImp on my PC. And I have used MouseImp for 8 years.

Nevertheless, the problem is already solved. I have downloaded the latest version of MouseImp (my was 5 or 6 years old) and everything is working fine (I haven't tested intense yet). I don't know if it was a bug in MouseImp or MouseImp's developers just added a workaround for uTorrent.

If I find any other issues with uTorrent and MouseImp, I will post them here.

MouseImp is a known problem... I think it's in the 1.8 manual (available in my signature). And it doesn't necessarily apply to dialog boxes.. something about the click hooks it has.

Perhaps the FAQ needs to be updated or a more-prominent post on the forum with "known problem programs" to reference for diligent people like yourself to find :)
