Have you tried Process Explorer or just Windows Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL once) to determine if uTorrent is using up lots of ram?

If so, uTorrent v1.8 (or v1.8.1 beta) has advanced cache features to disable windows caching which is known to cause excessive ram use.

already did that..u torrent runs fine for a couple of days, then all the sudden slow download speeds then it stops the torrent with that error. to fix it i reboot..then all is fine..what could be causing it? and utorrent is not using lots of RAM.

utorrent seems to be working fine now all i did was reboot..i have a sneaking suspicion that it has to do with my settings or my isp (comcast) please reply so i can keep u updated...see if we can resolve this if it happens again

Being as I have ComCast (and many others do as well), I'd bet it was your settings...or something else.

it started happening again overnite..when i tried to download a torrent this morning same error...god this is annoying. Also, i removed that omniscan thing , i wasnt using..so thats not the problem.

Are your 'save to' folders set on the default? Is your drive close to being full where those folders point to?

Are you using some type of program that controls your Windows Virtual memory or have you changed your virtual memory page file size?

System Properties>Advanced>Performance Settings>Advanced>Virtual Memory

Change to system managed size or custom size (1.5 times the amount of ram). Both fields should be the same size if using custom.

Set your virtual memory on the drive where Windows is installed.

Memory Usage should be set on programs.

Try this: Goto the Advanced Options/preferences. Find: diskio.coalesce_writes. Set this to false. This fixes the problem for me... but also seems to degrade disk performance.

thanks slippery that seemed to have fixed it..been working for a couple of days now.. with no reduction in speed.. ill let you know if it acts up again..so someone reply so i can keep it updated on this issue.
