Error: Too many open files

Hey,

I cannot get my fingers on this error in utorrent.

Firon already helped me quite a lot about the proper settings in the limits.conf file.

I'm running a leaseweb express server with CentOS.

I have edited in the file while logging in as root;

username soft nofile 10000

username hard nofile 16384

Next I logged in as username and run ulimit -n 10000

I rerun utorrent under wine.

This is the result when I run ulimit -a with my username account;

Cut the global down to about 5000

Each peer connection counts as a file handle.

Use them up with connections and you won't be able to deal with the files.

Only chaning the value 10k to 5k will do the trick?

That should give you the breathing room you need to have files accessed while still having peers.

Are these torrents actually getting 200 peers on them?!

You could probably use a lower global and per-torrent max AND a lower upload slots amount.

(especially with "use additional upload slots" checked)

I set the global and per-torrent respectively 1000 and 100

Any ideas what value can solve this?

Is it a ram issue as well?

If not, can you set number of files allowed at once in wine to 32767?

Turn off DHT and set the connection count down to 2000.
