trouble downloading torrents

I am having trouble downloading torrents. It has been a while since I used utorrent and the last time I had the same problems however I can remember what I did to fix it.

Here is the problem:

When I go to download a torrent with utorrent it has the blue arrow stating downloading. The within seconds it turns to red and stated that the torrent is inactive???

Status states: torrent is downloading, but there is a tracker error

Tracker Status: hostname not found

DHT: waiting for announe

Also when I try to download something it also states the following in the Tracker Status: no connection target machine refused it?

Right click, copy this link http://slackware.com/torrents/slackware-12.1-install-d1.torrent , then Ctrl-U in uTorrent, say OK.

As a pre-emptive attack on your problem, what kind of AV/security/firewall software do you have installed?

I did the Ctrl U in utorrent and it stated Error hostname not found

Wait I just figured it out I think? Thanks for bringing it up about the firewall/security. I think that it was listed to always block connection from utorrent.

Norton can certainly block µTorrent from looking up domain names. Furthermore, Norton is a pretty lousy firewall and antivirus, so I'd suggest uninstalling and replacing with something better (such as Comodo and AVG Free).

Help, when i try to download a torrent, i have plenty of seeds and peers but the logger keeps saying connection closed. The port shows to be open and accepting, I have the green checkmark at the bottom. Everything seems to show to be fine. I have tried your test torrent at open office and it works fine but nothing else will. what do i do now?
