icsterm Posted October 5, 2008 Report Share Posted October 5, 2008 Utorrent is using 500MB+ of memory in task manager, abnormal in my opinion.I use the following setup:-external 7200k rpm hdd via usb 2.0.-both windows write/read cache are disabled in settings.-write cache disabled ( when enabled, it stucks with disk overloaded at about 8-9MB/s).-read cache enabled.My download speed is 11MB/s constant.But ram usage of utorrent.exe process is increasing (sometimes up to 1GB).Why?Because i don't use any cache (both windows/utorrent).Is it because i use Windows Vista x64?Please advise. (this particular ram usage is different from the standard utorrent cache that i disabled? ).At the time i uploaded the pic, RAM usage has reached 2GB!! ( i have 4gb total ram memory).Torrent file has 60GB filesize.Later edit: The utorrent.exe ram usage is using a fixed amount of ram near 2GB, because of windows vista limitations. Speed has decreased about 2Mb/s. I think i should limit the speed to this value in the future.Any tips to get maximum speed without involving this huge ram leak? icsterm Posted October 5, 2008 Author Report Share Posted October 5, 2008 I will unload Avira services, and try to download again and see if any changes occur.How can i manually unload the dll ? (without uninstall of Avira).Edit: i got results by increasing half_open limit, seems like an utorrent bug (i had my limit set at 5, not default like it suppose to be at 8)Now ram usage is ~200mb constant.
