Error Message during download

I am having trouble with an error message every time I try to download. The Error message reads "Error: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process". I have searched forums and other error message boards to try and find this issue and I cannot. This is a 2nd computer with almost identical software on it, and my other computer Bit Torrent works perfect. Nothing (from what I can tell) is blocking the program, and the message appears anywhere from 5-15% into the download. I've tried re-installing a fresh Bit Torrent file from the website twice... with the same result. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. I also have a screen shot of the error message (if it helps), but I cannot attach it here.

Sincerely,

Randy

But this is my 2nd computer with literally identical software on it. Even less software than my original computer that works perfectly. I will check the forums again, but I don't know if this is the answer I am looking for. Thank you for your post.

I am sorry that I am not familiar with what you are asking!! As I had mentioned in our first thread, I don't understand what you are asking/saying. What is a Hijackthis log?

I too am getting the same error. This only happened when I switched from XP to Windows 7. I have adjusted my Utorrent to the recomended settings and am hoping someone can help me fix this. Thanks!!

I am getting this error with XP, not Windows 7. The strange part is that these computers have the same software on them... maybe a newer version of Bit Torrent, but virtually the same with everything else. Maybe the new version of Bit Torrent has something in it.

Dreadwingknight.... I am not trying to be difficult, I'm trying to understand. 1st of all this situation is happening on my home computer (which I am not in front of, I am at work). I can do this tomorrow or this evening. 2nd... I am not so familiar with all the "lingo" people are using on these threads. Disable Indexing on what download folder? In Bit Torrent, In Windows? I am not familiar with this folder.

Sincerely,

Randy

I have asked you THREE TIMES for a hijackthis log and TWICE given you the directions on how to get it and you STILL haven't provided it. That's why I'm having such a hard time with you. Getting information is like pulling teeth nowadays and I'm sick of it.

The indexing comment wasn't directed at you.

Posted

OK... but you understand that I am referring to my home computer now right?? This is why I cannot give you the information you are looking for to assist me at this moment. When I get home, I will be sure to post the log... thank you.

DreadwingKnight,

Thanks for the help, but unfortunately it didn't work. I changed the indexing and restarted the program, but within minutes the same error popped up. Do you need another hijack log file with the changes or do you have any other ideas?

Thanks!!

Posted

Sorry... I can't do it tonight!! I've been called away for a last minute business meeting and I fly out tonight. I have to do alot to get ready. I'll post this on the 25th when I return.. sorry for the inconvenience and I do appreciate all the help and time everybody has put into this.

@poprox: enable option in uT "append .!ut to incomplete files".

And I think the culprit is Winamp and its media library trying to index media files.

Another user met the same error with Winamp. So set Winamp to exclude the torrent download folder from indexing.

K..your prob is that another process is conflicting with Utorrent...

You have some programs running at startup that you should have turned to manual

C:\Windows\System32\oodtray.exe

this is glarys defrag..............turn it off. ...........................(Always do manual defrags)..possible conflict

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\acrotray.exe

turn off

C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe

turn off................................................Any malware can be named winampa.exe, so check to be sure that winampa.exe is located in the folder C:\Program Files\Winamp

C:\Program Files\Sprint Instinct Applications\MEMonitor.exe

turn off.....this is download manager................possible conflict

C:\Program Files\TuneUp Utilities 2010\TuneUpUtilitiesApp32.exe

turn off the srun at startup.....do not use auto defraf either!!.................(Always do manual defrags)..possible conflict

C:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exe

turn off have it set to manual too...

C:\Windows\system32\SearchFilterHost.exe

this is a memory hof related to indexing.....not critical turn off in services ...if its still indexing your files it may have possible conflict

adobe reader turn off too, keep set to manual

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

turn off all unneeded prossesses from startup then uninstal utorrent...restart,,and turn off antivirus before reinstalling utorrent.........make sure you install utorrent fron here and not some dodgy p2p site

lol dump Nod32 and get avg free or avast free

get malwarbytes, spybot search an destroy, superantispyware,...update windows defender, ..and get an antirootkit prog..mebbe sophos.....and give your pc a reall scan and clean MANUALLY .... then if you find nothing ...make sure that torrent works with default settings first before changing settings ..

if its still there..then try using the turbo boost in tuneup utilities2010..it will turn off all services that may interrupt gaming.............not meant for mainuse though...........then try uninstalling and reinstalling it again then try try try again :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

to the other dude

------------------------------------------------------------------

Trend Micro HijackThis is a free utility that generates an in depth report of registry and file settings from your computer. HijackThis makes no separation between safe and unsafe settings in its scan results giving you the ability to selectively remove items from your machine. In addition to this scan and remove capability HijackThis comes with several tools useful in manually removing malware from a computer.

thats what it does.......ON ANY FORUM YOU WILL FIND THAT USERS WILL POST A HIJACK THIS REPORT AS IT HELPS OTHERS SEE THE PROBLEMS,...............so download hijackthis..its free!!..........then post the report ..then maybe someone can help....

TIPS...remember not to bloat your pc with needless running processes...that steal memory and bandwidth

Use Event Viewer until you understand it properly..you will save yourself a lot of pain later on :)

....

OK... I'm back now.... Damn work trips getting in the way of my personal business!! Ha ha. Pleae find attached a copy of the log info from Hijackthis... If anyone can see conflict as to why this error message (listed above) keeps stopping the torrents during download, please let me know. It will download anywhere from 5 to 20% then show error message... it has to be a software conflict, but I don't see how as the computer having issues is almost identical to my other computer that works perfect with bit torrent....
