BarrenSoul
no no no, I mean for adding a torrent. Having to do it each time and always being the same value it's rather redundant. Also there is no connection limit that can be specified per torrent (it's a global per torrent, I want individual, as in 75 connections on one and 50 on another)
Ultima
2. I guess that's what the Advanced button at the bottom of the Add new torrent dialog is for... eh?
Nefarious
1, there is a limit per torrent connections right under global limit connections, if u want 75 and 50 u should use global "125" and individual "50"this still doenst make sense to me, connections dont determine the speed of ur torrent
Ultima
Heh, technically, they do, but there's a massive decrease in returns on speed as you increase the max
Nefarious
well... technically, but u can always have in a torrent with few peers but good speed per peer, and torrents with many peers but low speed per peer, heck, i've been downloading lost from a torrent with 4 seeders and only 18 peers at max speed
hermanm
> 1. Per torrent connection limits.I'd like to bump this back up. I like the per torrent connection idea as a stop gap measure until seed scheduling can be improved. My idea is to keep all my torrents active, but for old torrents, reduce max peers to a small number like 3. This way, I can still utilize many peers for new popular torrents, but seed old torrents with a minimum of resources.
jewelisheaven
... and if implemented first in the Advanced pane, there doesn't need to be any UI work to wait for, brilliant.
hermanm
I think right-click Properties would be a more logical place. Current µTorrent allows for batch editing of properties, so it would be very easy to change a large group of torrents to have a max 5 peer connections with 1 upload slot for example. jewelisheaven
Re-read my post. It belongs in the UI, however if you want it sooner rather than later, waiting on a widget for the UI is pointless when it can be specified in the Advanced settings. hermanm
An advanced parameter also means a default value needs to be offered. The value will vary depending on our upload speed and number of upload slots. So, I understand your point about being able to implement quickly, but I also don't want it done in a sloppy and inflexible manner.
