synce
A lot of what I download originates in Japan so usually there are Japanese and some Americans in the swarm. Almost always I have to ban American peers because when I look at their down/up ratio it's like 50:1. Is this a cultural thing or what? I know it's not an issue with private trackers but the public ones are ridiculous. The most annoying part is that I'll ban a few people, and then check back later to see that they're back with a new IP, usually scrambled. So then I ban again, and they come back, again... Is this a uTorrent feature or what? I'm about ready to switch clients.
DreadWingKnight
You do realize that just because they aren't uploading to you, it doesn't mean they aren't uploading at all right?Or were you just so self-centered and arrogant that you forgot? Zardan
You can ban ipranges with ipfilter. To enable it go to Preferences > Advanced and set ipfilter.enable to true.Create a file named ipfilter.dat in %AppData%\uTorrent and the ip ranges you have issues with to block leechers, or you can probly find a ipfilter file on google that will block all americans. Switeck
Your own uTorrent settings can cause uTorrent to upload far more than it downloads, at least from most peers.
Lord Alderaan
You can't know what the whole swarm does from just your point of view. Micromanaging BitTorrent (banning individual peers/clients/ipranges) does more harm then good.In fact, imho it is only micromanagers (and malicious poisoners) that should be banned from the swarm
DreadWingKnight
The amusing part for me is that the offending micromanager is on comcast. He's an american himself.
