Wobbud
Could anyone please tell me if it's normal that when the webUI is accessed on the local machine using http://ip:port/gui/index.html instead of http://localhost:port/gui/index.html then it doesn't load correctly? I'm having a few problems accessing remotely and I'm wondering if this particular error is just happening to me and, if so, it will help me narrow down the cause of my problems. Thanks
1c3d0g
No, not at all. Both 127.0.0.1 and localhost work fine over here, it doesn't matter which one I type, both go to the Web UI without any issues.
Wobbud
Cheers for your reply but what I mean is does it still work when you use the IP address of the machine in the same way as you would when accessing it remotely?
1c3d0g
I haven't tested it "remotely" yet (that is, from another machine), so I can't say for sure...sorry.
Masske
For me it works good - remotely and local...
Wobbud
Sorry, reading back I didn't make it clear what I meant. When accessing locally I would normally use 127.0.0.1 or localhost, which works fine, but if I enter the machine's IP address instead then it doesn't load properly.i.e. say my IP (on local machine) is 184.172.12.100 and uTorrent runs on port 444In the address bar I would normally enter http://127.0.0.1:444/gui/index.html but instead I enter http://184.172.12.100:444/gui/index.html <- this one does not load properlyEDIT: This is not my real IP or uTorrent port. DomZ
What exactly doens't load properly? Got a screenshot? What OS/Browser?
Wobbud
I'm using Xp Home and Firefox 1.5.1I'm not at that machine at the moment so I don't have a screenshot. It lets me log in and then the left sidebar loads and nothing else, even after several minutes. This in itself is not really my problem. I wanted to know if anyone else has a problem when accessing locally through the actual IP instead of a loopback address and if not then there must be problems on my machine rather than in the webUI itself, which would explain other problems that I'm having. I'm just trying to narrow down the possible list of causes.
DomZ
I'm on XP Pro, and I can access it using my remote IP with the same Firefox as you and IE7.Does it correctly load from a remote machine?I havn't heard of anybody else having this issue yet, tried IE? If it doesn't load it in IE either then maybe there is a firewall problem or something?
Wobbud
Cheers for the info.IE doesn't load it at all, it just displays a blank page and when I try to connect from a remote machine then it just times-out every single time. It looks like I need to play about with my firewall then, which I'll do tonight and hopefully have remote access tomorrow. Thanks again.
DonGato
In my case it works well with Firefox 1.5.0.1 and Opera 8.5 but not with IE 6. I receive a "The page cannot be displayed". Quite strange.
1c3d0g
Lower your Internet/Intranet settings to Medium. I had that same crap happen to me too. :/
DonGato
Anyway it works without using the suggested url format.

Wobbud
It turned out to be my ZoneAlarm settings. I had to switch off cookie control and ad blocker and it works fine. As DonGato said I don't need to use this format so I can change the settings back to the way they were and just use the loopback address on the local machine but I was hoping that the solution to this problem would also solve my remote access problems but obviously it won't.
