uTorrent not able to associate with .torrent files in Windows 8

This is with the most recent version of uTorrent.

When you try to make uTorrent the default program to open .torrent files it doesn't work. You have to add torrents manually through the program.

Also, this means that magnet torrents don't work at ALL.

Is there a previous version around that is confirmed to work in Win 8?

Thanks

It's not the browser. It's a uTorrent and operating system issue. I had an old version of uTorrent before and it was fine. So there's really no way to download an old client?

I guess you declined to read the sticky threads in this forum before posting.

Bizarre rule. Wonder why that is now.

I remember back when a new release of uTorrent wasn't working properly, and a bunch of private trackers basically said you had to downgrade or switch clients. I was easily able to find previous versions on the official site.

Actually you know what, nevermind. Downloaded Vuze and it's working fine. Would love to go back to u, but can do without the attitude. I'll check back and see if they update the client with a fix

Also' date=' could be it got installed in [b']%AppData%\uTorrent now instead.

Wait why would this be relevant?

Because it will be installed there from now on, and all associations must go to that location.

Working as intended, they'll not fix what's not broken. Updating when using as portable is another story, though.
