Should I Adjust Bt Trans Disposition For The Purposes Of Uploading ?

I read that changing it from the default of 13 to 255 makes it more compatible somehow, however lately it seems that playing with the settings is a bad thing, especially when uploading. So what's the consensus ?

Leave that set to 13. You're running uTorrent v1.8.4 more than likely...only v2.0 and later is optimized enough to use uTP outgoing.

Just to check, so if using 2.0/2.1, leaving it at 15 should be fine correct?

I wish that were the case, your results may vary. Your networking may not like all the UDP packets uTP makes!

If you have speed issues, try setting it to 13 or 5.

I've set this disposition value to 10 (1.8.4, build 16688), and it produced an awesome upload (and download) speed, in fact 1.5 times higher than my maximum-ever @ 13 during supposedly non-throttled hours (and I am talking about healthy torrents with big swarm). Not to mention the pathetic speed during half of the day ("officially" throttled hours).

Weird, isn't it? (For me it means that I am throttled all the time, just differently at various time-slots.)

I know this version is non-optimized, but probably I should have set that to 15, right? Not forcing just enabling utp, as far as I understood...

The problem is with 10 that I am perceived as non-connectable for some sites and many other clients (e.g. azureus, right?).

You can ONLY connect to uTorrent clients v1.8 and later if using uTP only.

And if you get considerably better results with uTP only, it is almost certain your ISP is throttling/disrupting BitTorrent traffic that it can identify...and it doesn't identify uTP yet.

It is verified that my ISP throttles torrenting, but what is the "BtTransDisposition" number to set instead of the default 13? 15 maybe?

My preferences: I'd like to have as many utp connections as possible as well as be able to connect to other (Azureus) / older (uT) clients.

15 is the most compatible setting.

Outgoing uTP first, then outgoing TCP if uTP fails.

Accept both on incoming.

13 allows incoming of both, but does TCP only for outgoing.

on this new seedbox the bt trans was set at 0. It's a 1gb line speed, should I leave it at 0 ? i have no idea how my settings should be for this new box. Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks so much!

bt.trans_disposition is probably best set to 13 (if v1.8.x) or 15 (if v2.0 or later) for a seed box.

its webui 0.361 so is that less than the 2 you said, or does the 0 count ? They have the BT connect speed at 200 too, is that too high ? Thanks for the assistance man, I have no idea how it should be set up LOL

The webui version is numbered separate from the uTorrent version.

Although it sounds like they misconfigured uTorrent horribly based on the bt.connect_speed setting.

They should be set to default settings.

Could you direct me to the page with the default settings ? My box was pre-setup and I don't know what the default settings are. Or is there a way to revert all settings to default ? Perhaps somewhere else I could read more ?

There are multiple ways to reset to default settings, but remotely with no means of just "tossing files" onto the server leaves you with just "reset" on each item in advanced settings.

Well the default bt connect speed is 20. Is that large enough a value to fully utilize my 1gb connection ? There was a comment a few posts back that 200 was way mis-configured lol. so is 20 what you would go with personally ?
