uTorrent 2.0.2 high CPU usage.

Just downloaded and installed the .2.0.2 version of uTorrent. Now I'm seeing a very high CPU usage whenever I'm downloading something through the program.

Is it actually the utorrent.exe process eating the cpu?

At times, yes.

Post the process explorer process list with the dll list for the utorrent.exe process please.

Have you removed and re-created the exceptions for uT in ESET yet?

Is a lot of disk I/O going on when this happens? (File rechecking, file allocation, etc)

I have the same issue. Noticed it started after version 2.

Disk I/O is about 10%. I also have ESET, it's disabled and still issue is there.

uTorrent cpu usage climbs with download speed. When I download at my max of 1.1MB/s, I get about 70% cpu usage. I'm running an older P4 2.5Ghz (and 2gb ram).

also, when going back to version 1.8.5, cpu usage is ~20% (i just downgraded so everything is the same except version of utorrent.)

20% is still way too high. Try uninstalling ESET altogether.

I have the same issue without any antivirus software. uT 2.0.2 takes a lot of CPU process.

Checking again, today v1.8.5 is using 5-10% doing 1.1MB/s.

Just upgraded to 2.0.3 Beta 20367 and CPU usage is down... to about 25%. Much better than v2.0.2... but I guess it is still way too high

10% CPU is still really high. ESET is sucking up a lot of CPU.

I upgraded to 2.0.2 and i have the same maxed out CPU problems now...

Im on Vista and as soon as uTorrent.exe starts it makes the following processes go up in cpu usage....

svchost.exe (45%, system)

lsass.exe (38%, system)

svchost.exe (12%, local service)

when your downloading as normal uTorrent.exe goes up and down as per normal 20-30% etc which is fine.

but doesnt seem to matter if your downloading or what speed wise your sharing/downloading etc, the processes above listed remain high.

even after a torrent is downloaded and you have removed it and uTorrent.exe is doing nothing those processes are running high until uTorrent is quit!! Once the uTorrent.exe has quit those processes go back to normal cpu usuage.

Core2Quad@2.4GHz without uTorrent CPU usage 0%, with uTorrent 50%-70% with 800kb/s download. Why?

I try to set manualy the disk cache to 1024 (default 32), nothing happend.

I need solution, because the high tempereture is freezed the win XP 3 times per hour. Its terrible.

I found the problem:

Zonealarm firewall cause the high CPU usage any download process not only the utorrent.

Same issue for me as the original post.

I have two different computers, both running with a good configuration, alas with Win XP and sygate firewall. With the update to 2.0.2, utorrent started taking 45-90% of the resources and couldn't do anything while the program was open. I changed firewalls, antivirus programs, tweaked the caches and whatnot - to no avail. Finally I downgraded to 1.8.5, the issue vanished instantly on both computers, now the process is taking 2-5% of the resources.

There's a reason why uTorrent v2.0.2 won't run well on your system...and it probably is that way for a lot of people. But we can't determine that without more information.

I'll wait for a new version and if the problem persists then on both of my computers, I'll list all the specs needed. But these 2 computers don't have that many similarities, besides WinXP SP2, AntiVir, uTorrent and now Comodo's firewall. Hardware-wise they're very different, different make of processor, videocard, amount of memory and so forth. And with my Win7 computer I have no issues at all (which has almost the same software installed as one of the older computers) so far I just thought that the issue is somewhere deep within winXP

remains to be seen, I read somewhere that the new beta would solve this issue on a lot of folks, so I'll just wait for the next official version and see what happens then.

2.0.3 will not make any difference for you. List your network card and the relevant security software.
