  1. I still say it is very confusing for the newcomers and for the ones that do not have the technical skills. Read all the posts by users that this toolbar crap has been installed by mistake! It's not straight forward at all.

The thing is "technical skills" are not really needed to actually read the instructions and information regarding what they are about to do, and the largest ever repository of human knowledge is at the disposal of anyone with an Internet connection (No, no not Wikipedia either) , so it's not so much "by mistake" but "by not using due diligence" (AKA impatience and the "I know what I'm doing" attitude).

Sure, most (if not all) advertisers take advantage of this by presenting things in a way that makes it difficult to say no, and we ALL know this, which is why everybody SHOULD pay attention to ANYTHING other than air that is 'free'.

  2. Compared to the installation 'extras' of Format Factory, the uTorrent 'extras' have huge neon signs announcing them. With that installation, when you have declined the offer of Baidu and Delta Search, and pressed [Next], an "Ok/Cancel" dialogue pops up, which, if you don't read it carefully will totally ignore your "Do not install" selections and load them up anyway, if you click [Ok]. which would be the intuitive action because you would naturally think that you were confirming the "do not install" instructions.

  3. It is placed as part B inside uTorrent's License Agreement (scroll down when reading before installation) for whatever reason... as i do agree with part A i actually don't feel comfortable at all agreeing with the latter! For future reference i'd hope to see 3rd party/optional licences separated from the main License Agreement, it should be placed directly before whatever recommendations/processes it holds, and its Privacy Policy should also be readable directly from there instead of linking to some other sites!

That's the way it is with ALL "Pay per Install" packages, by visting the site it confirms an installation was done.

  4. OK - found what I think is a bug. Dowmload of some files, not all, is showing with good speed, and an appropriate time to complete. However, nothing is happening.

If it was a bona-fide 'bug' it would affect all running jobs equally. It is simply that one torrent only has a single peer to download from while the other has many. No mystery, no surprises.

  5. here are people that dont want to complicate things by setting up orders or priorities

Nothing to do with queue order OR priorities, but if you HAVE to force start every jobs you are running more jobs than your settings allow for.

so if u dont want to risk utorrent prioritize/pause ur torrent due to internal priority management force is the way to go
    Absolutely and totally WRONG.

By "force starting" every job you are running your client in THE MOST inefficient way you possibly could. You are bypassing ALL the settings that allow the BitTorrent client to serve data to peers efficiently, however; It IS your bandwidth and computer resources that you are wasting.

  6. i have to force start it

i dont think i ever just started anything cauze i want all of them up at all times no matter what

so its pretty pointless would rather turn double click to force-start

Then get your queue setting right instead of force starting the jobs!
  7. Are you seriously suggesting the "image format" is being changed between certain 3.3.1 betas/stable and 3.3.2 betas, so that some display the icon and some do not??

Actually .ico is not strictly a 'format', but is a container for images in other formats and it is some of the content images that is the issue.

  8. Now this is the most bugged and unsightly icon I've ever seen.
Install Windows XP SP3 and you won't need to look at it!
I hope devs will use neat and clean icon from v3.3 in future builds.

If you don't like it ....... Make your own! The user manual tells you how to make uTorrent use it.

But stop bitching and whining about something so damned insignificant compared to the many other problems that actually AFFECT SOMETHING THAT MATTERS!

  9. It's a bug, and has nothing to do with XP being X amount of years old.

No, it's caused by using newer image formats that are NOT supported by an ancient operating system!

The empty space is the equivalent of the "red 'x'" for missing or unsupported images in web browsers.

  10. Well lets be fair, XP is a TWELVE YEAR OLD operating system for which service pack support has ended and will reach "End of Life" in a little under eight months, UNLESS you want to pay M$ for the privilege.

So it's not that surprising that there are problems and why should developers support what is essentialy a dead operating system.
