daniel0ng Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 I know this has been asked before by someone else, but no answer was given.Anyone using Comodo Firewall with µTorrent? the only way i can get a green tick with 1.6 is to allow all traffic which is dangerous. It seems that my µTorrent always asks for permission when it starts up for a UDP port around 1300-2000, which is weird, and it doesn't seem to ask for the listening port I decided on earlier.Any help?
Ultima Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 If you understand that there's already a thread, then why are you posting a new thread...? Yeah, I suggested using another firewall in that thread, but it doesn't make the thread not about Comodo =TUDP is either for UPnP or DHT. You simply have to allow any outgoing, and incoming on the port specified in µTorrent.
daniel0ng Posted July 8, 2006 Author Report Posted July 8, 2006 my bad then, usually don't hijack other people's thread about their problems but if i don't have uPNP or DHT turned on, i should not see the UDP protocol trying to connect isn't it? or does Peer Exchange require it too?
Switeck Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 Peer Exchange only uses TCP.At the moment, only DHT uses UDP.
Ultima Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 @daniel0ng: It's not hijacking if it's on topic
daniel0ng Posted July 8, 2006 Author Report Posted July 8, 2006 oh haha alrighty then i'll take note next time i post!
LouDog Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Found this is the Comodo Forums, also posted the answer in the other thread ^^ this made it work for me, enjoy!BittorentA mini tuttorial of how to open ports for bittorent and similar p2p programsGo at the "Network Monitor" panel and add the following ruleRule for TCP/UDP protocolAction = AllowProtocol = TCP or UDPDirection = InSource IP = AnyRemote IP = your IP adress (or "Any" )Source port = AnyRemote port = the port your bittorent program uses for the TCP/UDP connectionsYou must move the rules up, over the default rule "Block IP in". ( CPF "reads/applicates" the rules from the top to the bottom)ps. Remember that for CPF "Source IP" is the adress of the computer which sends the data and "Remote IP" is the computer that receives them. When your computer sends data is consindered Source, when receives them is consindered Remote.
jahnbon Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 This was a big help to me as well...thanks a bunch!
modtang Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Great info. Exactly what I came here for. I'm giving Comodo a go because ZoneAlarm keeps crashing and it's a real pain in the a$$.
OAKside Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Thank you LouDog.The wording has changed in COMODO Firewall v2.3.6.81.The "Sources" are now considered "Destinations".Just swap the terms and voila: Working CPF and µT!Go to the "Network Monitor" panel and add the following rule:Action : AllowProtocol : TCP or UDPDirection : InSource IP : AnyDestination IP : Any (or your IP address)Source Port : AnyDestination Port : XXXXX (A single port)(µTorrent's port number is located at Options > Preferences > Connections)Important: You must move this new rule up over the red, default rule "Block & Log - IP In/Out".(CPF "reads/applys" the rules from the top to the bottom.)P.S.: Remember that for CPF "Source IP" is the address of the computer which sends the dataand "Destination IP" is of the computer that receives them. When your computer sends data itis considered Source, when it receives data it is consindered Destination.
soulcosmic Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 Very very nice! Profoundly helpful... Thank you!
Prathmesh Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 Thanx a lot I was getting 2-3 kBps when I installed this firewall this very nice software. I couldnt just use another firewall. I wanted both uTorrent n Comodo to work. Now getting speeds slightly lower but good enough.@Modrators: I know you ppl are busy but I ve noticed you have stick post about firewalls thats is bit outdated if you could modify it(since some iterface names been changed in that firewall. I have had been travelled three posts to reach this one and make uTorrent work. Note: I used both uTorrent & Comodo firewall for a short while but both seems awesome.
Ultima Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=194753#p194753I'm not sure what you mean here... I linked to OAKside's post and made a note of the changes when he posted it all the way back in October.
kitchenutensils Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 hey is there any way i can set up comodo to allow random port mapping via upnp?
Lord Alderaan Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 Find the uTorrent.exe entry in your Application Monitor double click it and enable "Allow all activity for this application".Make sure no Network Monitor rules block the traffic. You can try disabling Network Monitor to see if it is blocking incoming connections.
Coolio10 Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 @kitchen.There is no point of using upnp with this rule as you only need this rule to make port forwarding work. It is not possible to use random port unless their is a range. Because in comodo and your router setup you can specify a range and not just a single port but you still need to know the range or else every time it randomizes outside the range it will not work.
Ultima Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 If using "Randomize port each time µTorrent starts," µTorrent will select a random port between 1024 and 5000 to use at startup.
blackscribe Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 LouDog and OAKside, you guys are amazing. I've now got my uTorrent and Comodo working together in harmony.Keep on rocking in the free world!!
tonifiddle Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 It's great ;)Thanks a lot !!! I wasted 3 hours solving this issue, but not result. Was about to uninstall Comodo Firewall ... just good luck for this nice app ;)That really helped perfectly
DreadWingKnight Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 That rule change breaks incoming connections rvalverde, It doesn't make things more secure.
ayeayre Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 i am having the same problem and i have added all the rules(allowed everything for utorrent.exe and allowed incoming tcp/udp for port 51011).. i know it is comodo because when i turn it off it works perfectly any ideas?
MrCats Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 I have a problem - I think that the LouDog rule describes a interface from an older version of Comodo (I use the newest CMD 3). Can you please help me with what I have to do, if any have the CMD 3? Mine look like this: I get there by CMD->Firewall (Tab)->Network Security PolicyThx! Mr Cats
