Zero_Gambit
Hi Ultima, Yeah I tried the suggestions in your SLOW/INTERRUPTED INTERNET CONNECTION OR OFFLINE TRACKERS thread. These are the changes I've made in uTorrent. I've basically followed Ultima's guide and then the guide that DreadWing suggested, to the letter. And So far no joy...net.max_halfopen 4bt.connect_speed 10maximum global number of connections 100bt.transp_disposition 5No status light foundPort Forwarding CorrectlyUpload limit: 87kb/sConnections: 100Max Active Torrents: 6Upload slots: 6Connections (global): 600Max Active Downloads: 5Couldn't Patch TCPIP myself as I couldn't find the necessary field in the Hex editor, and Lvllord's patch could not find the file. Downloaded a 'fixed' version. Then tried repairing it with Microsofts tool. Have the original backed up in case.Using Window's Firewall, and AVGModem ADSL NTT Modem MS5Router NetGear WGR614BWindows XP Sp2 - never had the auto updates on.ISP Plala.Org.Jp (Run tests states that ISP upload compression was found)Average Download Speed: 1700kbsAverage Upload Speed : 1000kbs (this could be inaccurate due to ISP compression)I'm thinking that maybe I'm stuck without the use of any Torrent programs. I tried BitLord but got the same results, the trackers continue to time out. Thanks for your help so far Ultima and DreadWing, I really hope there's a solution! Ultima
UPnP, NAT-PMP, DHT, peer.resolve_country, and IP resolving disabled? And er, it seems like there's some contradiction in the information you've provided:maximum global number of connections 100...Connections (global): 600I'm not sure which it is. YoungWezley
this also just happened to me. all my trackers status say either "invalid URL" or "no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it" Im guessing that means the problem is with my router but i restarted it and started up a new port and i forwarded it but i get the same problems. ive had utorrent since the 8.2 update and no problems till now. Ultima
Including torrents from here? And invalid URL simply means just that -- the URL isn't a valid URL (might be a udp:// tracker, which µTorrent doesn't support).
Zero_Gambit
Sorry, yes all the mentioned are disabled, and the max global is at 600 in the speed guide.Didn't notice, sorry about that Ultima.Except IP Resolve, it doesn't appear in uTorrent? Is it to do with something else?Hope my solution is yours too Wezley!
Switeck
Right-click in PEERS window of an active torrent to disable Resolve IPs.
YoungWezley
Okay I just re-installed it and I undid ultima's troubleshooting actions that I made before and my trackers are all back and running however my speeds are a little slow but I probably missed resetting something so I just need to play with the settings a bit.By the way Ultima, yeah the udp tracker was invalid but all the rest of them were still saying "no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it" including your slackware torrents. and Switeck my torrents were inactive so my Peers windows were empty. Otherwise thanks you guys for what you could give me and zero I hope you find something that works.
Switeck
"and Switeck my torrents were inactive so my Peers windows were empty."Try an inactive torrent peers window then! YoungWezley, you seem to be on ComCast so try the 1 megabit/sec upload settings from the 2nd link in my signature.
Zero_Gambit
Great thanks Switeck, the Resolve IP's is switched off now.I really hope we can fix this.
YoungWezley
yeah after using your settings switeck, im getting 100 more kB then my initial tweaks. and im curious as to how you knew my isp.
Switeck
I'm on ComCast too, so I know a bit about it. You might even have a faster upload than that...so even the 1.5 or 2 megabit/sec upload settings might work. I have only ~1 megabit/sec upload because I have the "cheap" plan. Zero_Gambit
You managed to fix your issue Wezley? I'm still unable to connect to anything. I wonder what I'm doing wrong?
Ultima
Exit µTorrent. Then...Start > Run > %appdata%\uTorrentBack up settings.dat somewhere safe, then remove settings.dat and settings.dat.old. Restart µTorrent, select the correct port and upload rate in the Speed Guide, and test the Slackware torrents again. Does the problem persist? What ISP are you using? As well...a) get HijackThis from trendsecure.com, run it, view the log, and post the contents here get Process Explorer from sysinternals.com, run it, Ctrl+D (to show the lower DLL pane), select the µTorrent process from the list, Ctrl+S (and save the list somewhere you'll find easily -- like the Desktop), then post the contents of the saved process list in the .txt file here

Ultima
C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NetworkAccessManager\bin\nSvcIp.exeThe NAM is actually known to cause all kinds of weird problems in many applications, including µTorrent. Are you actually using it, or did you install it simply as a part of your chipset drivers without a second thought?

Zero_Gambit
I don't know if this helps, but I tried my Mac with downloading, but via transmission. It's an older mac and I had to use an old version of transmission because uTorrent didn't work, but it too would not download anything.I installed NAM with the chipset drivers. I'm honestly not even sure what it does. I'll give removing it a shot.Sorry guys, I uninstalled it but its still not connecting.I just tried using the Force Download and updating the trackers manually, and I get a brief connection to a single peer at about 0.8kbs which counts down then vanishes, also the arrow remained red.Update, using the force download, I got a link to a single peer and seed out of 12 and 13 and got a 12kbs connection, but the arrow stays red. Ultima
O_oIf you're having tracker issues, how are you even finding any peers...? Do the trackers work intermittently? You're 100% sure you have DHT disabled right? As well...Sorry, yes all the mentioned are disabled, and the max global is at 600 in the speed guide. To be sure, lower the global to 100. What does Help > Show Statistics show for number of connections and half-open connections?I'm honestly running out of ideas here, and am starting to suspect possible ISP interference.
Zero_Gambit
Yeah the DHT is off. It was after you told me to delete that settings.dat that I was able to locate peers, and sometimes seeds. Set the max global down too. No joy.The statistics say number of connections 9 and number half open 7 (7 connecting)Knowing my luck it is the crap ISP service. I've been thinking about changing for a while now anyway. If anything else springs to mind please let me know.I'm trying a new torrent, and it's registered there are 2 seeds and 12 peers, but it won't link up, saying connection closed by peers.I've got the dht turned on at the moment as well.I take it no one has any thoughts? Then it says offline.Does it sound like the provider? I think its the provider, they never did like me XD
farstanley
Hi guysMy trackers all went offline ( timed out ) a couple of days ago. DHT Local Peer discovery and Peer Exchange not allowed in most cases. I have made no changes to anything for ages it just simply happened and I am stuck in the middle of all those manga downloads I wanted.I blame the ISP because:When starting a new torrent the error messages: No connection could be made because target machine actively refused it and: Invalid URL: all come up immediately but the Offline ( Timed Out ) errors take up to fifteen seconds as if the tracker messages were being intercepted assessed and then blocked.I will try later versions of utorrent and some other bittorrent clients, and glasnost, just to be sure but it looks as if guerilla warfare with my ISP is on the cards. They are the only ISP available and don't have a fair usage clause. I can do what I want they said.I shall spend the next few weeks downloading every piece of free software from Microsoft and there's a lot it. Three or four GBytes in the Visual Studio Express Suite alone. They won't be able to question the legality of that.
