utorrent randomly freezes my computer

Recommended Posts

It randomly freezes everything. I have no reset button so I've been holding power for three seconds to reset. It'll do it 5 minutes after starting utorrent sometimes, other times it takes hours.

I'm using Windows XP, and connect with an external usb modem.

I increased the disk cache to 512mb which seemed to fix the problem. But then it did it again. Now I think it's only when I'm downloading a lot of things at once or if there's a lot queued.

Thanks. No, I imagine I'd have to investigate what that is, and then purchase something...

After I first found utorrent was the cause of the crashes (I thought it was hardware and cycled out as much stuff as I could; ram, radeon...) I installed bitcomet and it crashed in exactly the same way.

Interestingly, I see an entry for bitcomet in that log... Even though I uninstalled right after it crashed.

My estimate is you'll have to investigate what that is, and then remove something.

Bad software interactions with "perfectly stable" commercial software is alot more common than it should be. :(

...just seems to be getting worse too. :(

Fact BitComet crashed too means uTorrent is not the underlying cause of the crashes.
