FractalCore Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 It randomly freezes everything. I have no reset button so I've been holding power for three seconds to reset. It'll do it 5 minutes after starting utorrent sometimes, other times it takes hours.I'm using Windows XP, and connect with an external usb modem.I increased the disk cache to 512mb which seemed to fix the problem. But then it did it again. Now I think it's only when I'm downloading a lot of things at once or if there's a lot queued.

jewelisheaven Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 Nothing pops out there, to me at least :/Do you have an option of connecting to your modem via ethernet (RJ45)?
FractalCore Posted February 1, 2008 Author Report Posted February 1, 2008 Thanks. No, I imagine I'd have to investigate what that is, and then purchase something...After I first found utorrent was the cause of the crashes (I thought it was hardware and cycled out as much stuff as I could; ram, radeon...) I installed bitcomet and it crashed in exactly the same way.Interestingly, I see an entry for bitcomet in that log... Even though I uninstalled right after it crashed.
Switeck Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 "I imagine I'd have to investigate what that is, and then purchase something"My estimate is you'll have to investigate what that is, and then remove something.Bad software interactions with "perfectly stable" commercial software is alot more common than it should be. ...just seems to be getting worse too. Fact BitComet crashed too means uTorrent is not the underlying cause of the crashes.
jewelisheaven Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 I poked at Ethernet becuase I'm betting on USB drivers.
