Dib
72.20.34.145 port 6881I disabled both update checking and statistics reporting, so why would utorrent continue to make outbound connections to their own address when there are no torrents running? In this day and age, is this really the behavior you want for your client?
DreadWingKnight
DHT. And they aren't connections.Paranoia is unwarranted.
Dib
Paranoia is entirely warranted in this day and age, when you have even $600 retail software like Photoshop that installs unecessary processes without notification which usurp system functions and can't be removed under normal means.Anyway, thanks. jewelisheaven
... If you don't want to connect to router.utorrent.com turn off DHT lol.
Dib
I blocked the utorrent IP range 72.20.0.0-72.20.63.255 but that's why I was asking, all I saw were outgoing connections being made even with those functions turned off.
DreadWingKnight
Why do you think that blocking that range will do you any good?http://neuron2neuron.blogspot.com/2006/05/blocklist-balderdash.htmlhttp://www.slyck.com/story1593_MediaDefender_Leak_Offers_BlueTack_Users_a_Reality_Checkhttp://torrentfreak.com/search/bluetack/
jewelisheaven
You mean BlueTack blocks Staminus Communications, uTorrent's host. Better than jumping to conclusions would have been to get wireshark to see that the packets in question were going to router.utorrent.comDWKnight, that tag search is good but including the most recent example specifically relating to ESET of BlueTack going overboard.... http://torrentfreak.com/peerguardian-malware-080224/ is more apt for someone who immediately cries conspiracy so they least digest the first paragraph or two of the article instead of clicking the tag and then having to click AGAIN on an article. I do like how the news made when uTorrent was added to the lists is on there though.
Switeck
If uTorrent is still trying to make outgoing connections, have you disabled BOTH DHT and automatic updates?
