But your answer is about upload speed! What is the relation?Is it the same limit speed?And the chart is theoretical . DreadWingKnight Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Your maximum download speed cannot be dictated by any one factor.Properly configuring all your settings for your connection is the ONLY way to get optimum speeds.Because of how unbalanced most connections are, upload speed is typically the limiting factor.

This means you can both RECEIVE and SEND data at a certain THEORETICAL max rate. uTorrent and other bittorrent clients assume you can reach 70-80% of this theoretical max while still using your connection for other things. That is why the setup guide and Speed Guide (Ctrl-G) is only interested in upload... your limiting factor.To test your download sustained speed... which may be LESS than theoretical max due to ISP interference, check the test torrents. The setup guide mentions http://slackware.com/torrents/ and http://dstribution.openoffice.org/p2p/

thelittlefire Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Everyone's setup is different. I notice no ping increase or packet loss at those levels Yes it is true time-sensitive applications like realtime games and VoIP are the primary places you notice "lag" when your upload is too high.
Switeck Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 If you turn off DHT, LPD, and Resolve IPs...plus reduce net.max_halfopen to only 1-4...plus make sure global and per torrent connections max is considerably less than 100....you could probably upload a lot faster than 20% max without appreciable lag and packet loss.
