sergiorodrigues
assume you have utorrent set up and running to make use of your total upload bandwith.assume you start another internet program that need some upload bandwith.what exactly happens in XP if both aplications have the same priority in task manager ?1-utorrent will allways use up the upload bandwith it needs at each moment.2-the first program that was started allways gets what it needs first3-XP distributes the bandwith between both programs evenly4-the program that has the open connections (TCP connections) first is the one that gets the bandwith first.5-bandwith is distributed between all connections evenly. if 1 program has 90 connections open and the other 10, then the first will get 90% and the second 10%6-another way i have not figured out...thanks in advance for your answers. Switeck
Something like this, from what I understand:5-bandwith is distributed between all connections evenly. if 1 program has 90 connections open and the other 10, then the first will get 90% and the second 10%However, your pingtimes will go through the roof and packet loss will go up quickly as well if you've got more going than your maximum upload bandwidth can do. Firon
Well, it's not really even, from what I've noticed.
DreadWingKnight
Task manager doesn't assign bandwidth priority. It assigns CPU priority.Regardless of priority in task manager, if you're not using a QoS handling application like CFOSpeed to assign bandwidth priorities, the program more aggressively trying to use the bandwidth will more aggressively get the bandwidth. splintax
Precisely. Even if you do use QoS, it's probably better just not to use BitTorrent while doing this other upload-intensive tasks, as BT is probably one of the most taxing activities for your internet connection.
