Jucealala
I upgraded to 2.0 a few days ago. Now, most of the time nothing happens, when it does I'm maxing speeds of 14kb/s which is ridiculously frustrating.I've reset all my settings through 2.0s speed test. I have re read the setup guide and followed instructions (which used to be good and in depth and now seems to be 'do the speed test through 2.0 and hit save'), read Ultimas setup guide and tried number 2 of Switecks links (conservative settings - and all different ones at that). Still nothing.Speed tests through speedtest.net show my dl is 8.68mb/s, ul 0.47mb/s, ping 10ms. Nothing else has changed on my computer or internet settings. The only thing I haven't tried is a youtube setup guide and I really really don't want to do that.Help please!!
DreadWingKnight
What internet security software do you have installed?Do OpenOffice torrents give you problems as well?
Jucealala
I'm using Mcafee Secutriy Centre. Not sure what an OpenOffice torrent is, sorry. Everything has been giving me trouble, but im not sure if any of them would come under that category or not.
DreadWingKnight
http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p <-- these torrents.3.2.0 windows english should max your connection.
Jucealala
Ok, I've tried downloading that and when installing it says that 'The destination folder specified below does not contain an OpenOffice 3.2 version' when clearly it does. Frustration!Edit: Ah it seems I only downloaded the language pack. My fault! Trying again.
DreadWingKnight
you chose "Windows" then "3.2.0" then "English (en-US)" from the drop-downs on that link or did you navigate away from that page to try to download?
Jucealala
No I downloaded from that page but somehow clicked 'Language pack only'.I went back to that page and am now trying to download the actual file but now utorrent won't start the download at all :S
DreadWingKnight
Have you stopped your other torrents?
Jucealala
Yup. I've closed all web activity except this site and facebook, and I'm trying to force start it and load more trackers but nothing is working.
DreadWingKnight
Adding more trackers to the openoffice torrents will only serve to cause more problems.Remove the exceptions you have for uTorrent in McAfee security center and re-create them. Jucealala
It seems there are no exceptions in the first place, and I can't add any. I've tried using the 'help/how' section of MSC but after a certain point they become irrelevant. It just won't let me add utorrent.

Jucealala
http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/8656/preferences.jpgThe 'Number of upload slots per torrent' is at 4 at the moment, but I've been changing it to 400 and sometimes 600, it usually bumps up the dl speed. DreadWingKnight
Have you stopped and started all of the torrents you want active yet?
Jucealala
Yes. OpenOffice has been active this whole time, everything else has been paused, stopped and restarted frequently. I've also restarted utorrent and even deleted full torrents + data, then re-downloaded them. It didn't work.
DreadWingKnight
Is there any activity in the McAfee logs that could reveal part of the problem?
Jucealala
No, everything is clean.
Switeck
Just for testing, try temporarily completely uninstalling McAfee. Use Windows firewall if you need that to feel safe...definitely use that if you don't also have a router.
Jucealala
I'm somewhat reluctant to do that. I don't think it's Mcafee, I've never had a problem with it, plus, I have just started utorrent for the day, have paused all downloads except OpenOffice and I'm getting speeds of up to 480kb/s, but only for that. It has now downloaded and installed. Utorrent is clearly capable of working with a very high speed. It's just being picky!I'm not sure what to do with openoffice now, though.... moogly
No, µT has downloaded OOo but NOT installed. µT installs nothing.
Switeck
If OpenOffice is fast but others are not...then perhaps the others don't have as many generous or good seeds? And if the seeds aren't as good/generous, you need to give more to peers to encourage them to give more to you. But likewise you shouldn't upload so fast as to overload your line...or upload to so many peers at once that each gets very little from you.
