AfghanEB
Hi there. I'm wondering if it's possible to add a couple of privacy options to the µTorrent client. Allow me to clarify...1) The detailed info portion of the screen can only be dragged up to a certain point which prevents it from covering the entire tasks area. Can this be changed so that the detailed info panel can stretch all the way up to the toolbar? Perhaps an option to show / hide the tasks (via the options menu) would be something to consider.2) Is there a possibility of adding a password-protection option for when the client is opened or restored from the system tray? I believe that Azureus has this feature available. If these changes can be made, I hope to see them in upcoming versions. Thanks for all of your hard work on µTorrent so far. Ultima
1) Why would you want to cover the tasks? Seems pointless to me. If you want to "hide" what you're downloading, then just minimize it to tray. After all, anyone can unhide it anyway.2) Read the sticky.
ScubaSteve
two more completely useless things. can u actually explain what use being able to hide the tasks would be.password protecting the .exe will not be an option as ultimate stated that its in the sticky topic. Sumerah
can u actually explain what use being able to hide the tasks would be. I could imagine he shares his PC with other people and don't want these people to know that he's downloading porn (or something).
AfghanEB
can u actually explain what use being able to hide the tasks would be. I could imagine he shares his PC with other people and don't want these people to know that he's downloading porn (or something). You guessed right. At this point, I can see that these suggestions are unlikely to be implemented, but it's no big deal either way. As for missing the sticky post on the password matter, I acknowledge that as a mistake on my part.
chaosblade
That would be a problem either way, since if you noticed the detailed info section is active only when a torrent is selected. No visible list, no way to see status of torrents
mxo2204
An optional password should protect utorrent when it's been restored from the tray. This would allow to anonymously DL anything in the background and some "sniffing" family members would not know what's going on. This nice feature is already avail in Azareus. Thanks
GoodieRackmount
You could also turn off every column in the list view... Nosy porn-hating parents aside, it would be nice to be able to run µTorrent just as a backround process without a GUI. I've got it set up the way I want it, so I really don't need to change any settings or watch who's downloading from me. I just want to let it run. Animorc
If you want privacy, why not install Microsoft Powertoys Virtual Desktop Manager? That way, you can have 4 different desktops and hide whatever you want in three of them.
