Grahamf
To turn off all ad related and featured content:Options>preferences>Advanced...Turn all these settings to false:left_rail_offergui.show_plus_upsellsponsored_torrent_offer_enabledbt.enable_pulsegui.show_notorrents_nodeoffers.content_offer_autoexecYAY! So glad people are sharing a solution to this new problem. ..So disappointed with utorrent for downgrading their quality with obnoxious ads. I trusted that when it asked me to download the update it would mean good things' date=' but instead I felt betrayed. :-([/quote']At this point there's no reason to hate uTorrent. it's still awesome. The fact they haven't been actively deleting these threads and banning the posters for "distributing hacks" or something is good enough for me.AlsoI still get this:

AE
Just updated to a new version of Torrent ONLY because the old version wasn't working any more for some reason. I'd deliberately avoided updating for some time now as all I wanted was a basic product. I didn't need bells & whistles. Was really ticked off to see the Featured Torrent thing and the ads which is why I searched for help, found this forum and registered. Really appreciate you guys taking the time to post solutions for these, I'd have been none the wiser without your help.

asharpham
I've just updated to v. 3.3 and the silly "Featured Torrent" bar is back. I've tried all the suggestions above but the banner is still there. Is there another way to get rid of it in 3.3?

johnye2e
I had to install uTorrent because of too many Vuze errors. But I had to immediately downgrade to 2.0 after installing because of the useless and annyoing ads...

phlibby
On the subject of Ads. I don't really mind about them trying to get sponsorship because that's what the ads are all about. The makers and keepers of uTorrent should be able to get as much compensation as possible. It's an amazing program! And they are geniuses for coming up with it. I use it for free. I'm flat broke most of the time. I wish I could contribute but I can't. So, as long as we have people in the forums who can teach us the workarounds, I don't mind taking a little extra time if it means these guys (and girls) can get a little money from doing some advertising. You just have to see it as "nothing is free". We all have to pay a price, one way or another.
Beasly
The makers and keepers of uTorrent should be able to get as much compensation as possible.I would agree if the company {utorrent/bittorrent inc.} didn't make millions per year in revenue, excluding the ads!http://torrentfreak.com/utorrent-makes-ads-optional-following-user-revolt-120815/Even if the annual revenue in this article is exaggerated it's still has to be alot per year even without the ads. socksmalone
Just registered to say thanks for these tips. The URL redirect to an ad is particularly obnoxious I must say.
Ashkan
Has anyone been able to turn off/get rid of the facebook and twitter icons on the bottomm? Eariler versions would dissappear after the first click but since 3.4.1 that's no longer the case.

penfold
Thank you so much for this, but I have one correction to make. Accessing the hidden menu is done by holding F2 + Shift while clicking Preferences, rather than Advanced. Holding F2 + Shift while clicking Advanced does nothing. Other than that, this is great. My client looks perfect now.
