I have the error problem ''Access Denied''.

I had xp and turn it to vista. all my old files that had not been download yet have that problem. Any new torrent download fine, without error messages.

I read the problems about winzip etc.I have nothing of this programs running.

Indexing is the process of looking through ALL files/folders (in a list or EVERYTHING), which interferes with uTorrent's ability to write to files.

If you don't recognize polylex.exe, would you mind following this procedure:

Start -> Run -> Cmd -> cd\ -> dir/s polylex.exe

Can you right click in the command window, and select "Mark"

Then highlight everything from the top (the line you typed dir/s...) -> downwards and from the far left -> right. After you highlight it, a left click should copy it, could you get all of the text in between and paste it here?

Sorry I thought it would pop up the cmd window on the K: drive. It didn't find the file on C of course. (sorry I'm native to the US and like most I don't speak any language other than Spanish or English fluently )

If you're expecting to be using a program under your K:\Programs folder with that name... good. If not, the reason Ultima mentioned it was because it a) wasn't on the same drive as your main programs is in a different folder than most expected installed programs and c) therefore it could be the bad juju :/

As a secondary step, would you mind going to Process Explorer and using it to perform an additional log?

1) Downloading the ZIP

2) Unzipping it (it doesn't install anywhere else afaik)

3) Running procexp.exe

4) Clicking on the utorrent process in the upper pane, Ctrl-L to enable the lower pane

5) Clicking on the lower pane and pressing Ctrl-D to show DLL mode

6) Ctrl-A to save the list to a text file, and pasting that text file into this thread?

It will tell us exactly what is linking into uT ... if anything specifically is monitoring what is opened. Btw, thanks for the understanding.

Good good Thank you that was good.

Now the bad news, It doesn't look like there are any exceptional things trying to access uTorrent. That means there is a software incompatibility. I see you are running Norton something... Is it Internet Security? or some other suite of programs which do alot of tasks. This thread lists general as well as specific settings for software firewalls. Unfortunately there isn't a symantec or Norton listing there.

Unfortunately a search on this forum for those specific settings doesn't turn up exact directions. The only other thing is to find out what that POLYLEX is and what it does and / or why it is running :/

polylex is a dictionary. i use it for translate english to greek. i don't think that is problem.

when i turn it off i have the same problem.

i think that the problem is the norton antivirus 2007.

OK, welll.. since I haven't used norton since 2001 version, I have no idea how to set it up for exceptions (which you need if indeed that is the case).

I found this and this link from a google search... perhaps those are helpful or the manual/helpfile which came with it can tell you exactly how to setup exception directories / exes from monitoring.

I'm sorry about the run-around on polylex I just couldn't figure out what it was, but i get it poly (multi) lexicon... Hmm I've always wanted to try a new language, why not greek

Access is denied to what exactly? Can you check the permissions for the uTorrent settings folder as well as your downloads folder?

The message ''Access is Denied'' appears ONLY with the old files from the format i have done from XP to Vista. With new torrents i have not problems.

And when i delete the folder containing the files from torrent, and restart from the beginning the downloading then everythink is OK.

That definitely points to file permissions... I'd hope you could right click go to permissions and take ownership (since I doubt you are the same SID as the previous user) and then things would be honky dory.

I also started getting "Error: accessed denied". THis is after succesfully using utorrent for several weeks. I can only open the torrent from the search page by right clicking and choosing open in another window. Once I begin the download, it takes a few seconds then the error appears and the download stops.

I do not have Google desktop and I turned off indexing in the utorrent preferences. Nothing else I've read here seems to apply.

THe only changes I can think of are the additions of Norton System Works and Acronis Backup. I am not using Norton for anything other than problem fixing.

Any suggestions?

As of yesterdayI no longer get the access denied! I duplicated the UTorrent preferences settings on my husbands PC and now I have no problems.

The three pages I recall changing were :

Downloads tab - Make sure you have a folder assinged for you downloads to go to

Connections - I have the first 4 boxes checked now

BiTorrent 1000,125 and 50 in number of connections and the first 5 boxes checked

I don't know the technical details behind these preference changes, but I do know it worked!

Demonoid has been taken down. You may be able to get a swarm up if that torrent is PRIVATE (as dht not allowed suggests) by adding a public open tracker to the list.
