recently I've installed a copy of Norton AV 2006 with spyware remover and internet worm protection and it doesn't eat up my CPU usage to 100% even if internet worm protection is turned ON. Note that if you're using Norton AV 2005 it's internet worm protection has a conflict with uTorrent and result to a 100% CPU Usage after a couple of hours of using uTorrent (6 hours +)

Did you count all (five or so) processes for Norton? If you did, there's no reason to change the software because of memory usage.

Edit: To be more specific:

All processes named "cc*.exe"

navapsvc.exe

lvcoms.exe

symlcsvc.exe (this one might not be there)

I don't have these ones:

lvcoms.exe

symlcsvc.exe

I only counted these:

navapsvc.exe

nprotect.exe

nvsvc32.exe

I didn't count:

ccapp.exe 10.5MB + 7MB VMem

ccentmgr.exe 2.5MB + 2MB VMem

damn. I better switch to another AV. Thank you, Animorc for openning my eyes...

Is AVG pro free? is it as effective as NAV?
