Keloran
its a rename- Change: Changed bt.slow_connect into net.max_halfopen
boo
its a rename- Change: Changed bt.slow_connect into net.max_halfopenwhich mean that utorrent doesn't try to connect to as many as possible, it will only try to connect to as many as its specified in this setting. ColdArmor
But it's been changed to values instead of True/False and I would love an explaination of a good value to have it at.
boo
But it's been changed to values instead of True/False and I would love an explaination of a good value to have it at.maybe a bit less then the half open connections you can get, in SP2 the default is 10, the default in µTorrent is 8. kidman
and what's diskio.coalesce_writes ?
Firon
net.max_halfopen is connection attempts. If you're on an unpatched XP SP2, DO NOT CHANGE THIS VALUE!You'll have major problems if you do (at least until uTorrent finishes trying to do mass connections...) kingnick
My diskio.write_queue_size was -1 by default so wouldn't this mean there was no cache? Completely confused about this, diskio.write_queue_size was previously set to 1 in 1.1.7.

kingnick
in 1.1.7.2, the default was 500 Dont know what it is in 1.2.Yes I know that but I set it to 1 manually and I thought maybe it had caused the problem when upgrading.
Firon
diskio.write_delay was 500, not queue size. write delay is no longer available as an option in 1.2.you should NOT use a cache of 1 or any small number. it only hurts performance. Ultima
Since one of the new features of 1.2 was "Autodetect write queue size", I'd assume that diskio.write_queue_size is set to -1 to allow µTorrent to do this autodetection. Any other number probably forces µTorrent to follow the specified number.
Firon
I guess I wasn't reading very well, I didn't see that feature
ColdArmor
When programs automatically detect things, espicially when it's a program that is relatively new and still in development makes me scared. :|

Then this needs to be changed to a much higher number?
jroc
Changed bt.slow_connect into net.max_halfopen <-now u can add values....aahhhhThis & DHT are the best changes/additions IMO. Oh, and the skinnable feature. BloodStain/FOOOD are a couple of beasts .....lol (no offense to anyone else who made icons, toolbars, etc)
monkey8
Okay, the field names needs to have some sort of description in some form (like pop up?).. It's making hard for some ppl (like me) to tweak the settings without any knowing what it is. Sure, it's been talked about in the forum (even in the Documentation section), but not everyone stays here 24/7 and know what option names has been changed. just my $.2.. Ultima
@UTorrentUser: It doesn't have to be changed. I recall people saying that connecting more slowly is more reliable than connecting quickly (meaning less half-open connections better than more). I'm not sure though, as I haven't extensively tested this.
Firon
500 is way too many half-open connections. You should only have tcpip.sys patched to 100 at most, 50 at minimum...
