crz_06 Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 i hear and read alot of positive things about utorrent client. As current user of XBT (http://xbtt.sourceforge.net/), a client that looks alot like utorrent and shares the low cpu/ram policy, i'd like to hear from former XBT user why they swicthed. So far i don't experience much troubles with XBT (ok, it crashes sometime and downlads sometimes stall at 99%), so don't really have a reason to switch. But maybe someone can convince me. Is there some knowledge whether utorrent downloads files faster than other clients (heard that rumor), because that would be a good point. Cannot really test this myself, but keep up the good work.
deeppal Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 Its like comparing Angelina Jolie(utorrent) and Eric Clapton. Read the many topics in this General forum and u shd be easily convinced after a few threads.I dont even consider XBT a client
crz_06 Posted November 26, 2005 Author Report Posted November 26, 2005 after posting i indeed started reading older posts and got convinced. just downloaded it and DAMN this is far better then ever expected (i thought it was yet another client) . And now i share your point of view.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 I've used XBT before, and I wasn't exactly impressed with it. And no uTorrent and XBT don't look that much alike.XBT's interface isn't very friendly. Some of XBT's functions are buried. The queuing system in XBT is horrid to configure at best. All things considered, uTorrent has more features for the same resource use without even trying.
chaosblade Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 I tried XBT for a few mins and looked around all its screens to get an impression. I did get one:XBT looks like a bad concept of BitTorrent client.
Sid32 Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 I followed the development of XBT, but try as i might i could never get it to work at a reasonable level. On top of its bad performance, its not updated all that much.. UTorrent is.. and it works extremely well.
baldjared Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 So far i don't experience much troubles with XBT (ok, it crashes sometime and downlads sometimes stall at 99%), so don't really have a reason to switch.I think the crashing is more then enough reason to change clients, although I haven't tried XBT so I don't know how often it does in fact crash.
Animorc Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 You could put it like this too: (µT < Other BT clients) && (µT > Other BT clients)It's both "Greater than" (performance) and "Less than" (resources)
