Determination 1 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 For general information, please read:• Skinning Tutorial ignorantcow and Splintax wrote on the main page. Much of the information there will not be repeated here.• Wikipedia's Article on Alpha Compositing. In an effort to diversify this guide, I have instead focused on a more visual mode of tutorialization.A Visual Representation of the Supreme Righteous Icon Placement ParadigmBelow details the dimensions and functions of each of the skins available in µTorrent.Alpha Blending for the UninformedAlpha Blending is the wave of the future! It will make your skins vibrant, expressive, and down right DYNAMIC! µTorrent can properly render 32bit BMPs. 32bit BMPs support ARGB color. Create your iconset that features partial transparency.Save as PNG with no background.Once you have saved the PNG, use AlphaConv to convert the PNG to BMP. (This is, by far, the easiest way to create a properly alpha-blended 32bit BMP). That's it, you are done!- This is a work in progress, please be patient. We now resume the reqularly scheduled program already in progress. -
Karasuhebi 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 Is it me or is this button set kind of old? There's new buttons (like the grayed-out "µ" button) that are not shown in this post. Would you mind updating this? I wanna know what the new buttons mean. =D-Karasuhebi

chaosblade 1 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 I dont get it. Its like im missing something. 160x16 only accomodates 9 icons here when 10 are needed. Maybe the grids in photoshop are off.
Determination 1 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 something is up with your grids...16(x10 icon count) x 16 (static height) = 160x16
chaosblade 1 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 Yea, Photoshop's grid was off, I ended up doing a 16x16 box and copying it over (all black, the last column of pixels was white, so i kept moving copies over till the white lines designated me the borders), Released Mix n Match eventually

servimo 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 I couldn't setup the status icons, although tstatus.bmp is in the %AppData%/uTorrentCould be a bug in µTorrent-1.7?
Determination 1 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 it's either %AppData%/uTorrent, or in the directory you have utorrent.exe and the various .dat files (if you have moved them for portability / organization.) Check there, and be sure to restart µT.As of the µTorrent 1.7 beta 1703, skins are working correctly. Mine are in my utorrent.exe directory.
servimo 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 Now I moved them all to the µTorrent directory, and nothing was set. In the %AppData%/uTorrent all was set, except for the tstatus.bmp, that don't change keeping showing the defaults icons. There is another setting that will determine where it will look for the skins files?
Ultima 7 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 µTorrent only looks in its settings directory, meaning only its executable's current directory, or %appdata%\uTorrent (depending on which one has settings.dat).

TrondS 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2008 Maybe it's time to update this guide to support version 1.8? tstatus.bmp should be 16 (or 32) icons, and tabs.bmp should be 7 (or 14).
Ghostwalker 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2008 Has there been any updates to this I'm in the process of making these now and was looking for information. I need to know what each image (in order) represents....downloading, uploading, etc...
thelittlefire 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2008 You don't see from the 1.8 compatible downloads on http://utorrent.com/skins.php ? ? Same as before, but add 2 icons for the Trackers tab (after the General tab, putting it 2nd in-order) for tabs.bmp; and adding 3-state RSS icon in tstatus.bmp (representing ON, OFF, UPDATING)
cerealsteak 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 Is it possible to add an icon to your custom labels made in utorrent?i.e. have a star or a "P" for a "private" label in the sidebar like the all/downloading/completed/etc sections?
