someguyouknow
how likely are you to get caught downloading illegal content?......I am somewhat worried because i am paranoid like that but all i download that is illegal is unlicenced (and some licenced) anime.....no music, no movies, and no software.....How many have they caught so far? Ultima
Hardly any, if at all... Though I'm not condoning it =T
Firon
With anime, it's pretty unlikely, in all honesty. And they've caught very few.
someguyouknow
i didnt think so......but as i said, i am kinda paranoid......i wont stop, though, cause i refuse to pay 30 bucks for 4 shows on a DVD and i dont even know if i will like it or not...... dolbysnoopy
If you are afraid, don't download illegal contents. Only if you're rich, you can go to big dvd store to buy original.
Firon
Rent 'em? Borrow from a friend? I had a local store that rented anime, mostly unlicensed subs, and they got the series nice and fast too.
someguyouknow
That is not much different than what i do.......except there is no middle man......i rent from Netflix but their selection is horrible.....
Ultima
I highly doubt that Netflix would have the latest anime, which contributes to the selection's "horrible-ness" xPHonestly, if you're ultra-paranoid, there's nothing you can really do other than (1) embrace the fact that the internet will never be 100% safe and just download -- maybe with PeerGuardian for *some* kind of protection (however much/little it may be), or (2) don't use P2P at all ;P
someguyouknow
Well.....i will just stick with it........i rather be paranoid and enjoy it then be less paranoid and be without........i will be alright.......
r00ted
what's the difference between licensed and unlicensed anime? My brother downloads Naruto episodes which have english subtitles.
someguyouknow
naruto is licenced.......it just means that it is owned by a company and will probably be available for purchase on DVD........
Ultima
Nah, not that it's owned, but the license to distribute it in your country has been bought by a company. Whether or not they release it on DVD is a different story (heh some companies don't even do that... or I recall hearing something like that). amonrei
You should worry if you're in Singapore ... probably.
RoyalShrubber
Umm, there are probably some differences in how much time authorities are spending on p2p users. If you are living in eastern countries ala Russia you won't have any troubles at all (Unless you are Chinese, they will cut of your hands or something... just kidding). If you are living in western countries just invest in lottery cuz you'll more than cover penalty if the police gets you, i.e. all the kids are using p2p, so you have more chances in lottery... Ultima
lmao if only it were so easy to win the lottery... xD
Dark Shroud
That answer to this is simple. First get Peer Guardian or Protowall. Second get Firewalls, both a hardware NAT Firewall and a software one. With those you should be more than fine.
Noname
Is there a list out there of which country is safer for using p2p and which are less safe?I really hope the day doesn't come when I get caught in a foreign country using p2p.
