Ultima
http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=10974Are you asking if the periodic attempts are normal, or the 20 minute attempt intervals?

alexsch8
Thank you Firon for fixing my last post with the extremely long log file listing.I downloaded Beta 466 to see if I am getting the same problem and I am. I wanted to make it more clear as to what is happening so that it may get fixed. My usual setup is my router at 192.168.15.1 and my PC is at 192.168.15.99. When I start uT it correctly maps a random port to 192.168.15.99, the port having been determined by uT. I used the Speedguide within uT to test that the port was correctly forwarded and it is. All is fine up to here. Now I throw in the variable of plugging in another networking device, in this case my cell phone. Windows creates another network connection to the phone. Since the phone is not connected to a router or DHCP server and I haven't configured a bridge, the phone assumes an IP address of 169.254.2.2 which is a non-routing APIPA. There is no gateway for that address.uT now sees that new network connection and tells the router to forward the random port to 169.254.2.2 instead of 192.168.15.99. Since the router only allows the last octet of the IP address for forwarding to be changed, the result is that the router will forward all packets for uT to 192.168.15.2. Only problem is that uT is running on the PC with IP 192.168.15.99 and thus the forwarding breaks. I confirmed that forwarding doesn't work anymore with the Speedguide.A suggested handling would be to use only an IP address that is in the same subnet as the default gateway for uPNP port forwarding. This is of course only a quick thought, there might be other solutions and I have not considered other effects such a solution could have.Though this is not huge and it doesn't inconvenience me etc. I just wanted to bring it up, in case others run into such a situation.Thank you for this great program! I love it!Please contact me if this is not clear enough. Here is a shorter log of what occurs:[15:24:51] Connecting to http://192.168.15.1:5678/rootDesc.xml[15:24:51] 0: Shirokage
I was told that windows auto update mess around with the net half open and switch it back to 10. I use a patcher program to reopen them to 50. Works now perfectly. My 2 cents.
rjsoz
I've suddenly noticed that my UPnP port stops being forwarded. Not sure after how many hours (it's mapped in the evening when I check it but it's gone in the morning when I get up). Restarting uTorrent re-maps a port and away we go again. This has never happened in 1.5 or any previous versions and nothing has changed at my end except the version of utorrent. Can't be entirely sure which beta it started happening in, but it definitely happens in 467.Will check the log file etc. when I get home and post anything relevant. plazzTT
I'm having the same trouble as Darnell 0216 and WBonner.UPNP was working fine with my Netgear DG824M router with all builds up to and including 460. Every build after that, fails to forward the port.In the 1.6 stable release, the Logger says:UPnP: Discovered new device: http://192.168.0.1:80/upnp/service/WANPPPConnectionUPnP: ERROR -3 mapping port 34890 -> 192.168.0.7:34890Unable to map UPnP port.I've tried to download this URL http://192.168.0.1:80/upnp/service/WANPPPConnection (is it unusual that it doesn't have a .xml extension?) but Firefox doesn't open it, IE says the page cannot be displayed, and GetRight says:!!!! ----Header Recv----!!!! Disconnected...RetryingOne of the builds between 463 and 473 (can't remember which) gave more detailed info on this in the Logger, I can post that up if needed.(Strangely, DHT only works for me with builds 463 and up, but thats a different matter)

nullpage
ELECOM BBR4M2 (firmware rev.R1.94g6)This router is an old router of domestic-oriented Japan. The manufacturing origin is Taiwan AMIT Co., and the router of the ARM9 base. Netgear DG834G Wireless ADSL Firewall Router.I've had intermittent problems with µTorrent and UPnP - usually of the "cannot map port" variety. Since ludde rolled his own implementation, it has worked the best.

timekeeper
I have an Aztech 4-port ADSL router/modem combo. Upon seeing there was an upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6, I upgraded, and now whenever I try activating upnp for any ports, I get this error msg:Before with 1.5, it worked flawlessly. Sorry I can't provide more info, but my modem has no XML output file. UPnP is enabled on the router, and the only thing that's changed is that utorrent was updated to 1.6. osm0sis
timekeeper, before some of the recent betas, uT used Windows XP's UPnP framework, now it's independant of that, so it might not work with everything just yet but in general it's better since now it can work on all versions of Windows, and even when emulated on other platforms. As for support for your specific router, Ludde's working hard to make it all jive, so don't fret.p.s. i think the OS independant UPnP should have been mentioned as a big function change on uTorrent.com's main page. rafi
@timepkeeper - you might want to post your results in the uPnP thread.
Xe
Was using 1.5, clicked check for updates and updated to 1.6 (buld 474), and now UPnP does not work. "[22:00:57] Unable to map UPnP Port". Using Netgear DG834GT, UPnP works normally for other programs and "UPnP testers".Is there a fix? If not how do I return to the old 1.5 I was using prior to this? Flebbit
Also add me to the d-link rejection list.DGL-4300, after upgrading to 1.6 474 it always returns 'Unable to map UPnP port' and nothing else in the log.On the bright side, at least i can manually change the ports without rebooting the router. timekeeper
Thanks for the replies, what upnp thread? I was aware that the framework has been changed, so I thought that might've been the reason. Looking forward to the fix, I'm using 1.5 for the moment. XE: To reutrn to the old 1.5, you can google for an older version of utorrent, 1.5, and just run the exe. I couldn't find any older versions on the official site, so I googled.
