Algis
When creating torrents, please add possibility in the droplist to select 8MB, 16MB, 32MB and 64MB piece sizes. Now 4MB is maximum.I understand reasons for small pieces. But on gigabit networks with 100GB torrents and a few users 64MB piece size is just right. With only 4MB piece size, if speed is 20MB/s then its five pieces overhead per second. Not optimal. And also torrent file becomes too large. Now instead of using Ctrl+N in uTorrent I must download separate application to create torrents just because it allows to select larger piece sizes than 4MB. dAbReAkA
not that it's impossible but are pieces larger than 4MB mentioned in the bittorrent documentation?
Firon
µTorrent lets you use larger pieces, but only if using 2MB (I think) will yield more than 65536 pieces.5 pieces/second will work just fine anyway.

Firon
You can have larger piece sizes than that. uTorrent lets you do it after a certain size threshold.
Borisz
How exactly does utorrent allow higher piece sizes? I had 400+gb torrents which still used 4mb pieces, even though it meant that the .torrent file had over 100k pieces inside.
hermanm
You can try different program called MakeTorrent for now:http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/File-Sharing/MakeTorrent.shtmlIs there a client compatibility issue with using larger piece sizes? Not µTorrent specifically, but other clients people might use?
Ultima
No, there's no reason for that to be the case. Really, it's just that large pieces can cause a lot of bandwidth to be wasted for hashfailed pieces or redundant data.
basurero
oops, for NO reason go over 4 MB !!!actually, what if maximun size is limited to 2 MB?how many clients have gigabit bandwidths? 1% ? less?anything above 2 MB shares very bad among 'normal' clients, not to mention slow uploaders! Vhozard
I would really want to see this function in uTorrent too.8 and 16MB piece sizes are very handy.Especially for private trackers, where the upload speed of all users is generally very high. Firon
µTorrent will gladly load torrents with larger piece sizes, but it won't let you create them. We might add support for that though.
