µTorrent 3.3.1: Automatic updating, fit-and-finish improvements

µTorrent 3.3.1 joins the list of modern software that's enabling silent, automatic updating. This means that stability improvements, small features and performance enhancements can be passed on without the need for upfront steps by the user.

Among other minor changes for this point release is improved overall fit and finish of the UI. This was achieved through many small adjustments including consolidation of icons, improvement in image quality, and removal of unnecessary lines and spaces. The cumulative result is a less distracting, more organized look that preserves the user experience you're used to.

In addition, we made numerous crash, stability and other improvements (examples: checked 0.0%, rate limiter, increased magnet link size, crash fix in the Plus player).

*) Sorry to say, download of the exe doesn't work and ends in http://www.utorrent.com/intl/de/downloads/complete/os/win/track/stable

*) Also changelog is without any blank lines inbetween ...

*) http://www.utorrent.com/intl/de/downloads/win is useless now (no stable, no beta, no builds, nothing). Also downloads there don't work.

*) http://forum.utorrent.com/viewforum.php?id=4 shows now 3.3 stable and 3.3.1 stable

*) 3.3.1 RC thread should lead to the 3.3.1 stable thread (http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=131268)

*) and the 3.3 RC and 3.3 stable threads should be unsticky ...

Me the same Tray icon issue with the latest build v3.3.1.29812.

Tray icon doesn't appear with Win XP SP3. Tried to make upgrade over v3.2 and even clean install, but results are absolutely the same. One can see blank space only where µTorrent icon usually appears.

Pls fix this strange issue. Appreciate your time and efforts!

3.3.1 B29812 - known issues:

Stopper issues:

2. Updating of "standalone" exe+settings or c:\programs... install-> puts the new exe into %appdata%\uTorrent (with wrong settings) instead of just replacing the exe. Plus, backup/restore operation is not documented anywhere...

2a. A wrong help-file-version is being retrieved by F1 (the old one for 3.2.1, instead of the updated one ready for 3.3.1)

Other known issues that might effect some people:

3. "Add torrent" dialogue option ( 'Create - subfolder') are not being preserved/persistent in the subsequent "Add"s

4. Auto-shutdown options do not take forced seeding jobs into account, and aborts them even when set to "when everything completes" . "Hibernate when download complete triggers only when everything (seeding) completes.

5. Occasional 'Disk overload' throttles speeds for some users, mainly at higher speeds (seems to show up here @~12MB/sec ) http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php … 44#p729144

7. resume.dat file is not being updated per-event/state-change, causing some data-loss & other side-effects between sessions

8. RSS auto-added torrents have the wrong "Added" time-stamp.

9. Pieces are not being written from cache to disk ASAP (if set to do so) and are being stuck in cache, plus there are a few reported cases (unconfirmed) of infinite "flushing" when download completes (leftover pieces in cache?) or infinite "allocation" when download starts (permission/priv. issues? Admin priv. needed?).

Added (21-May):

11. For a downloading torrent - a Disk full condition does not change from downloading to stopped-with-error state

12. User defined Search Engines list is missing separator-lines defined by empty lines in the user-list

14. Alternate upload rate is too sensitive to near-zero download rates. http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php … 02#p731002 . Should be job-related and not speed, or the speed threshold should be set to 10 instead of 0.

Added (14-June):

15. Sometimes, .torrent files are not being deleted when we "delete data + .torrent" (partially fixed for magnets in 3.4). Another side-affect seems to be that .torrent files are not being moved on completion if set to do so http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php … 10#p738310

16. Green Network Status Icon is not detecting blocked port, due to incoming DHT connections

17. Seeding jobs (possibly downloading too) are not being resumed after hibernation

18. Paused torrent is not stoppable after restart

Added (29-June):

19. "Move completed" + "only from default path" does not work now for RSS downloads that are defined with non-default paths.

I care less about other posts in other threads.

I didn't see it mentioned here, so that's why I posted here.

and firstly this is not a non-issue

any ideas when this will be changed from

as now µTorrent waste screen space...

[bUG] Deleting selected torrents moves highlight on random torrents is still not fixed...

same as [bUG] Scrolling the file list uses 100% CPU power of 1 core

also added magnet links in not started state don't have files selection when torrent is downloaded...
