Ex Azureus user

Azureus was just a poorly done program in my opinion. It was buggy and a resource hog. I heard about utorrent and how it was supposed to be the best bittorrent client out there. I tried it out, never looked back since. It is simple, yet as efficient as all other bittorrent clients. I'd never think of using anything else. I now use Shareaza too, but I still use utorrent for torrent files because nothing is better and frankly shareaza sucks when it comes to torrents. :-D

I learned of this client from a member of drunkendonkey.he said, and i am in complete agreement with him, that utorrent was tops in ease and accuracy.i downloaded the 1.1 version at that time, but had no ocassion to install and use it,until i decided to try out the wonderful world of linux distros.i am a total fan of utorrent in one day.

i had tried other torrent clients in the past, but found them either arcane or difficult of installation.utorrent installed in a moment and went right to work downloading dvd images.as a software junkie who has tried many different programs over the years,i will usually toss an application that gives me trouble, unless it is critical to have.it is great to have an application that combines simplicity with accuracy.i am very impressed.

Just downloaded and installed µTorrent after using pretty much every client under the sun and having used Azureus for years..

Azureus is now uninstalled and I've moved over all my incomplete torrents to µTorrent :)

No more CPU bandwidth hogging, and nasty Java.

Lovely client, hoooorah!

Thanks folks.

µTorrent = Wow!

I previously used the BitTorrent client but it NEVER worked for me. For months I thought torrents just don't work that great at all.

Then I thought of switching clients as there are a lot out there. When I found µTorrent I immediately noted its small stand-alone file size, even the extracted program is so small compared to BitTorrent.

Right now I'm downloading some 1.5gB file and the download rate is at the maximum my broadband offers, to think I only get 1kB/s with my old client then would COMPLETELY STOP an hour later.

Seeing that I knew I had to come here and give my thanks, though it may mean nothing at all for you guys. Nevertheless, thank you so much µTorrent!

They should have a testimonials page om the uTorrent Mainpage!! After TWO weeks of just running the program(with a litlle red warning icon), I decided to do the right thing.......

Calculate the speeds,do the networksettings, forward the ports through my router, etc, etc

AND

I can't believe that i have downloaded 35GB of stuff without having it set up correctly!

Even seeding now is a blastt!

I could have been finished last week with everything!

uTorrent, thanx for the COOLEST Programme and helping people like us get on with what we like to do!

Great surfing everyone!! and remember to SEED!!!

Hi,

I haven't been this glued to my monitor since ... i can't remember.

Yesterday I was uploading ~25kB/s and downloading ~3kB/s with BitTorrent. After port forwarding and yada yada yada, i still had poor download speeds. As far as i could tell, I followed all the instructions at portforward.com correctly to no avail. In the search to figure out what was going on, I learned about uTorrent and decided to try it out. I've now been cruising at ~153kB/s upload and ~275kB/s download for hours and love it.

It's going to sound silly but using uTorrent as compared to BitTorrent is like a breath of fresh air or a sigh of relief. No installation to speak of. Everything just worked. I'm tempted to not even uninstall BitTorrent because if it ain't broke, don't fix it. My internet connection is not strained anymore - despite the amount of data being moved and the number of connections. It almost makes me wonder why the heck other applications can't work this well.

Most of what i read made the two apps sound very similar but my experience hasn't shown that. Cheers to Bram Cohen & BitTorrent for starting a great thing and cheers to you guys for taking it the next step. It lives up to it's name.

boo to BitComet,

norm

Hi

I am A BitTorrent user, I was convinced that the way to go was UTorrent so I downloaded and switched over to it. I have no Idea wether this is a good program or not. I found it extremely difficult to try and set up and eventualy after a few hours just gave up. It required changing IP address and opening ports of some kind. I went to the web pages linked and found them to appear well put together but still abit complicated. With BitTorrent I just installed it and went into the router and set the port range as was clearly instructed with Pictures (LOL), I admit to not being good at this. The instructions for Utorrent required you to plug in a Static IP address and gave no clue as to where you find this number and is useless until you do so ( this is in the instruction LINKED web page). I feel they need to make UTorrent a little more self installing, set up and find all this stuff on its own.

Im new to P2P, I started out by using Limewire Pro. I have Bellsouth DSL but my downloads seemed to take forever. Now using Utorrent I can download tons of files daily. Using the speed guide to optimize my speed, with 35 KB/s max upload speed I can reach 300+ KB/s download rate. The seeding mode is nice so you can continue to let others download files and doesnt even slow my web surfing (with recommended settings) In all I would say this is the best P2P program EVER. Thanks for taking the time to create this program

I using others torrent client before and utorent is THE BEST!

Thx to uTorrent to keep me still interested in seeding files.

However, still could not solve the "cripple" issues or speed problems in certain ISP. I hope this uTorrent Team will come out with solution soon and uTorrent would be the pioneer in this matter.

Live long uTorrent!!!

I'm a little different from everyone in that, I'm a former windows xp user. Ever since the Vista upgrade path, which I don't really agree with, I've decided to take the plunge and give linux another shot. I'm currently very happy with my Ubuntu desktop.

When I looked for bittorrent clients for linux, I tried all the better ones. Some were too simplistic (Transmission), and even the ones that had most of the features I wanted still didn't feel polished enough. By chance, I remembered uTorrent, the only bt client I used to use on windows, and came looking to the site for maybe a linux port.

To my surprise, right in the title, it says that it works with wine (a windows abstraction layer for linux). I had purchased cxoffice to help my transition. I downloaded utorrent, and to my delight, it works very nicely with wine, and integrates perfectly into my Gnome desktop.

Thanks to the uTorrent Team for the great program.

Well I have been using this program for almost a year now. I have seen what?? three or so versions now. I switched from several bittorrent downloader programs I was using for different types of media. There wasn't a best one for all of them in my opinion. I did the site directed FTP client thing for a while but it was expensive.

I was leaving that back to the oldest program I had to start over when I ended up with porn more than I did the file that I was looking for because all the $#!* heads out there. I just put in a search for the best bit torrent programs and was directed to Torrent finder. There I learned about uTorrent and a few other sites. I searched your site for any sign of spyware and the like. Then I finally installed uTorrent. It was a blast faster. It was ten times more accurate than the stuff I was using. Even though I get frusterated sometimes now because I get a fake file, looking back I have to say that uTorrent has made my life a hundred times easier. I tested Azureus and few others after uTorrent because I hadn't tried most of them. The all pale in some way in compared to uTorrent.

I want to say thanks and that as soon as I free up my maxed out credit I plan to donate. I figured uTorrent has saved me enough grief to be worth ten times what I am able to give without asking for anything. It is imparative to me to keep filetrading and sharing alive like the free bards of old. Thanks again , spazpc

Greetings,

I've been reading the forums for several years now, and w/ each release comes great praise and great issues... the great issues, most of the time seem to be coming from ppl who are not d/ling / receiving their copy of uTorrent from uTorrents site and/or they are using some kind of mod hack...

I just wanted to say that I've not had any issues w/ any release, I've actually been using uTorrent since way back, near its beginnings, and w/ each release, all I can say is... thanks!

I know that over the years, many ppl have issues, many ppl don't read the forums, don't know how to search and are basically in an instantaneous i want scenario that well, just isn't going to happen... har har har

Anyway, I have a 5 mbit connection; I have uTorrent set to 2 mbit (thus not using 100% and allowing the rest of my network to run smoothly)... every so often my wireless drops its connection, thus causing the great "no connection" issue, but hey, you know if you just tell microcrap to reset the wireless, everything starts back up and re-synchs smoothly... why am I using only 2 mbit? B/c I have other p2p apps running, my kids online gaming habit and my crazy 4/1 sharing rule that I've been using...

I used to share 5:1, but dropped it down to 4:1. So, for those that are d/ling, ensure that you share your torrents, generally, I have several dozen torrents, I d/l a few and then share them until my 4:1 ratio is met. Once its met, I then move it over, review the file, make my tag adjustments, for video's, I have items that I check for and update... but for the most, I don't really change anything... thus preserving the torrent file status..

This is pretty much a useless rant, but I just wanted to let ppl know that I must be in the minority b/cc I do not have any issues w/ uTorrent, it works as advertised, seeding works, I absolutely love the new trackers tag listed (yea yea, its been there for a while..), but I'm now starting to USE it properly, removing dead trackers and ensuring that everything is functioning smoothly...

Well, I just wanted to pass along that I am 100% satisfied, 100% able to use and have 0 issues w// uTorrent. Any "issues" can be traced back to my own tinkering around and/or my own stupidity and not those of uTorrent...

So, thank you from the bottom of my usb 500-Gig hd's (several of them), that allow me to expand my television connection (b/c until Netflix is next-day delivery....) and thanks for expanding on my music collection for those brand new artists that use the web to share their music...thank you.

Well... enjoy the day and thanks! :)

Hah, I wouldn't say you're in the minority -- I'd say you're in with the silent majority of users that have no problems. I mean, if you compare the number of people actually using µTorrent (millions) with the number of problems we deal with here (at most, several tens a day, or maybe somewhere over a hundred -- I don't count :P), it's not all that much.

Thanks for the feedback :)

I used clients like BitTorrent, BitLord, BitComet, Azureus... I have to confess that I was not much of a seeder. I just couldn't leave them on, they use more RAM than my video games.

When I found uTorrent, I could finally start seeding as it was only using 5-10 MB RAM and leave it on for weeks. Little in size and feature-rich, it is by far one of those few "perfect" applications :)

I started using utorrent after reading about it in some places. So when I first started to use it I didn't know anything about torrents. I just get the latest version and read the whole change log and help file just to see how much better it is and what more amazing things it can do that the previous version.

I am not much of a downloader but looking at the number of features this tiny program can pack and getting better with each version I didn't use anything else and I never will.
