Hi all,

I love uTorrent 1.1's Toolbar and Torrent Status icons and I'd like to use them with 1.2. But I can't extract them from uTorrent 1.1 because the .exe is compressed. Is there anywhere I can download them? I searched the forum but found nothing. Thanks!

What's cool about splash screens?? That's the first thing I turn off in any application that has one (if I can), unless it gives some sort of useful information (which most splash screens don't).

O.o

I don't mind a splash screen while you're waiting for the program to load.

But we all know that's not an issue with µT. :D

edit: µT is compressed with PECompact2. This is why you can't extract the icons, the executable is compressed, which makes it much harder to reverse-engineer (at least according to the PECompact site :P)

Wow, yes, it is. Archive it, guys, this one will be hard to find!

But I'm actually looking for the Toolbar and Torrent Status icons. It looks like they can't be extracted, so the only way of getting them is if ludde or vurlix happen to drop by on this thread. Because we all want a "[toolbar/status] uTorrent 1.1" :P

WinMX_67: You have to convert the .png file to an .ico file with an icon program, silly! :P

Anyway, all I really did was download the old program and grab screenshots from it, crop them and that's it...so I don't know if they're in the right format, but hey, at least you have them. ;) The status icons I got only had green and red, but with a little magic I added orange, yellow and blue to them. All the alpha (transparency) ones I had to mod too (since I don't know if they needed to be transparent or not).

"Original" toolbar:

"Original" status icons:

Alpha toolbar:

Alpha status icons:

Alpha 16x16 icon:

Alpha 32x32 icon:

I hope this helps someone... :|

Neat! Thanks 1c3d0g and MechR. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm sure it'll come in handy for many people that prefer the simplicity of the 1.1 icons. You guys rock! Thanks again!

How do I convert the .bmp to .png to .ico. IE 6 can only save it as .BMP so what program can I use?

Well, on the browser end there's Firefox :)

Those images are actually .png's though. If IE saves them as .bmp, I think you can just rename the file to have a .png extension instead of .bmp, and you'll get a valid .png file. Then you open it in Paint or something and resave it as .bmp...

Renaming the .bmp to .ico seems to work for some purposes. If you want to make a multi-size icon, though, the best free tool I've found so far is @icon sushi.

Irfanview is a great program for converting images, however it doesn't do a great job converting to icon files (the colours get screwed up). For converting to icon files I would recommend Imagicon (http://www.download3000.com/download_9302.html). It's a tiny program with a simple drag-and-drop interface.
