anoxan Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 I've been trying to upload an avitar for weeks now; and every time I try, I get this:The server was unable to save the uploaded file. Please contact the forum administrator at strigeus@utorrent.com.tried the email, but it's dead.trivial, I know, but what's a forum without avitars?
Firon Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 Yes, we know about it (there's a few threads about this), but I don't think any of us knows how to fix it. :/
anoxan Posted February 2, 2006 Author Report Posted February 2, 2006 fair enough. guess my handle's an avitar in itself.. lol
splintax Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 I was mucking around with PunBB on my server, and had the same problem. It occurred for me when I didn't give user write access on the avatar directory..I'm sure you've already tried, but you should double/triple check what the avatar directory's been set to as well as check the permissions on it..
1c3d0g Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 Yeah...the avatar thingy is getting on my nerves. :/ Getting tired of my own avatar here...
DonGato Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 trivial, I know, but what's a forum without avitars? An excellent forum!Nice this software allows to disable avatars and signatures...
dAbReAkA Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 Firon could u make it a bit bigger? maye 100x100 and at least 30 K.. want harm so much
1c3d0g Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 Some people are still on dial-up dude...
Firon Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 100x100 16384BI changed the default theme too, the default punbb is teh ugly (and it has no divider for signatures...)
dAbReAkA Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 1c3d0g in bulgaria we already use cable.. i can't think of a more undeveloped country.. perhaps people in africa still use modems16 k is too low.. whatever..
chaosblade Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 an avatar should not be over 10k usualy. use a friggin compression program, any 3rd grade photo progie has a 'save to web' like feature, which sacrifises a bit of quality for lower filesize (usualy not noticeable).
Animorc Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 " an avatar should not be over 10k usualy "I agree with this. It's fairly easy to compress a 100x100 image to less than 10 kB. Mine is just over 2 kB p.s. 1c3d0g: You barely made it
Firon Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 can you re-up your avatar chaos? it stretches weirdly anyway, I set it to 16k which is "reasonable enough"
splintax Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Nice this software allows to disable avatars and signatures...Don't most forums? In any case, the avatars aren't disabled, it's just that they're not working properly. " an avatar should not be over 10k usualy "I also agree with this. Animated avatars suck ASS.Oh, and Firon, I was right? *slaps Firon with a fish* Come on, that was a simple thing to fix
Firon Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Yes, it was that. I'd actually chmod'ed the folder before, but it got reverted somehow... :/It's fixed though, thanks.
chaosblade Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Uh, sure.. its already 100x100 so im not sure why it needs to be strectched
1c3d0g Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Same here. I think Firefox 1.5.0.1 caches images too strongly... :|
boo Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 I also see old avatars, but I don't ever remeber seeing these avatars before,so I think it might be a PunBB bug
dAbReAkA Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Firefox caches too strongly as 1c3d0g said... i didn't see his avatar for a while (the new one) but the intel related one
