I dont see this error when i seed, what are the settings on your seeding torrent? (initial seeding, etc..)

The selection still seems to be an issue for labels. Sometimes if I Ctrl+Click 2 labels, it acts as if I am doing Shift+Click. If I click Shirt and Select a label above the one I clicked, all labels down from the one I first clicked on are selected instead.

Also, I see a flickering issue with this version when I load uT. Another thing I see is my DL/UL doing almost nothing even though my connection tests fine and I have not changed any settings when I updated to this build. The downloads are going at like 0.1-0.5kbps, when they go at about 200k, each, in the previous version.

Edit: Almost forgot this build takes up about 400MB of memory, where as the previous builds only took up 40-60MB or memory. Again, no changes to configuration. For now, I shall go back to the previous build.

Multiselect is still broken, yeah. We're working on it.

Are you seeing that kind of memory usage when using apps? What is the cache using?

Can "Seeding" please be added to the category listing?

Also, should not "Seeding" torrents be added to "Active" ?

Lastly, "No Label" under "Labels" category always has a zero count.

Of course it should not be zero since none of mine are labeled so should be "7" which is what "Labels" has but of course I only have 1 Label which is "No Label". So they are backwards really.

I am not using apps, at least, not clicking on the tab and really hope there is, eventually, an option to remove the feature, as I like uT being a BT client, not an app client. That is just my take on it.

As for the cache, it is the default setting, with it set to update cache, if needed. What I am curious of is why is my memory usage 30-60MB with 2.2 and 400+MB with 3.x with no other changes having been made?

The high memory consumption is probably a bug of some kind... this is an alpha, after all.

If you take a look at the Speed tab and look at Disk statistics, how large is that cache?

Here is what I came up with across the 3 most recent builds of uTorrent:

2.0.3 - most recent stable build

Read Cache - 11-13MB out of 13-14MB

Write Cache - 19-20MB out of 32MB

RAM - Physical - 60-75MB

2.2.20896 - most recent of this version

Read Cache - 11-13MB out of 13-14MB

Write Cache - 18-20MB out of 32MB

RAM - Physical - 105-110MB

3.0.20905 - most recent of new builds

Read Cache - 0MB out of (high disk activity reported by this build, no read)

Write Cache - 34-35 out of 32MB (this seems like the issue, though not sure what to make of it)

RAM - Physical - 285-305MB (and rising, with no downloading or uploading happening, just disk thrashing, not sure if that is the right word or not)

From what I can tell, so far, and I do take into account that these are are alpha, betas and stable builds. The stable release seems to download and upload great (about 15Mbps/2.5Mbps), the 2.2 release seems to go mostly okay (about 7Mbps/800Kbps-1Mbps) and the 3.0 release doesn't seem to download anything. All of these installs have the same exact settings, nothing changed, added or removed, etc.

I have three completed downloads and I want to remove them but the icon remove on the toolbar is still not active, its disabled even though I selected them all. as you can see on the screenshot.

3.0a installs but launches into a continuous crash and re-IPL. The 3rd radio button works to close it.

Win /sp4 and all patches. This is changed behavior from the 2.0.2 and 2.0.3 where the pane was appearing blanked out.

Latest build (20905) crashes on startup every time. When I reinstalled build 20814, these settings were reset:

"Show a window that displays the files inside the torrent" = got unchecked (was previously checked)

"Apply rate limit to transport overhead" = got checked (was previously unchecked)

Win7 x64

Hey guys i did not notice until just now, but why are some of my peers really light blue, it also applies to some of the pieces in my pieces tab

It has to do with streaming:

peers that you download 'critical' pieces while streaming turn blue. It is indeed a feature.

ahhhh! thank you :D

I dont like streaming media myself but if it benefits other peers well then i don't mind :P

i spent ages thinking to myself what do these peers have in common

Try removing your settings.dat and settings.dat.old.

Setting "btapps.show_apps" to FALSE in the latest version causes all kinds of GUI issues and frequent crashes on startup.

EDIT: setting "gui.find_pane" to false causes the same issues

Well, that solved my crash at startup problem; I had both options set to false. Thanks shakey_man!

So, I reset both to true, exited, upgraded to 20905, set both to false again and everything is fine now. No more crashes at startup!

P.S. I like the new quote function on the forum but it still need to be tweaked a bit :P

On some skins (Kontrast, phpbb blue, uTorrent) the "x wrote:" now shows up outside of the quote box: BEFORE / NOW

Also, I don't like how it now puts each post and signature separately in its own white box.

They used to be all in one box: BEFORE / NOW

And didn't the DST used to adjust itself? Now there's a new "DST is in effect" box that you have to check manually. In short, the new FluxBB 1.4.2 update messed up some of your skins.

yeah, the old skins are all messed up. I need to do some work to make them work properly with the new layout.

What sort of GUI problems?

Top toolbar dissappears, centre pane is empty, no bottom torrent info pane, then uTorrent crashes. That's if it doesn't crash on launch before showing the GUI. If both options are set then it's gauranteed crash on launch every time.

If it helps, I'm running Vista Business x86, Core2 duo, 3GB of ram, connected via ethernet cable.

If you want screenshots, let me know, just means I'll have to backup my settings first, and get some kind of image hosting account...

Build 20905 was crashing for me before I could even see the GUI. So, I went back to 20814 and set btapps.show_apps & gui.find_pane to true, exited, installed 20905 again and then it was fine. I even set both btapps.show_apps & gui.find_pane to false again and now it seems to be working. You should try that and see if you still get any of the problems you described.

I noticed a high disc activity as well as CPU usage. My C2D is kept on 35% mark by uTorrent alone. Also, it read too much for the seeding it was doing - uploading at the rate of ~400-500kB/s and always reading at ~3MB/s. What is strange that the cache is not filled up but constantly refreshed - keeps up to 4 or 8MB of reading cache. By stopping that torrent the CPU dropped down to ~15% which is still far too much.

I add a screenshot:

uthighusage.th.jpg

Update: The usage increase up to 40-50% even while no uploading took place. Turning it off.
