fayway
@Lord Alderaan : oh yeah ! i see, power is sometimes dangerous !But plz, can you just do like emule for example and give user the possibility to switch on or off this feature from µTorrent.exe Preferences when setting WebUI ?(By the way, i'm installing emule just for that !) ciarals
Hi!I have a little problem: when I try to access WebUI (for example) from a computer of my university, he ask me username and password. I insert them, and then nothing happens: the page is blank and it says he's finished loading. How can I do? The same problem happens when I try to access the WebUI using my computer, where uTorrent is running. Thanks in advance. This is the link of my remote computer: http://62.211.231.248:54190/gui/And this is my computer's: http://192.168.1.136:54190/gui/+I use a US Robotics Gateway USR9108: my pc is connected to it using a wireless adapter. The port is completely open, so I don't know where is the problem. Please, help me!
jesus2099
I had the same problem because I forgot to place the webui.zip file at the right place. See the first post of this thread…Maybe that's it.
ciarals
I haven't downloaded the version that is posted at the beginning of this post. Only the uTorrent 1.6.1 build 490. Do I also have to download the WebUI version 0.310 and install it in the uTorrent directory?
jesus2099
Yes.webui.zip is not part of the main µTorrent download. You have to download the RAR archive from the first post to obtain webui.zip (webui_v0.310_beta_2.rar for the moment). This webui.zip version is workable with µTorrent.exe version 1.6.1 build 483 and more.I agree with you that this is not very clearly explained anywhere. 7even
Hi, just installed this Beta pack and activated the WebUI - it rocks! :-)Now a little question, I haven't found answered in the readme.txt: can I specify port ranges?I tried "192.168.*" and "192.168.0.0-192.168.0.255" für my local subnet(s), but this didn't worked. But anyway: great work, thanx!7even

ciarals
Hi!I have a little problem. I use a US Robotics Gateway USR9108: my PC is connected to it using a wireless adapter. And everything works. But my IP changes very often (every 2 days): why's that? With this change, I can't manage my WebUI from a remote PC... Any solution? Thank you very much. Lord Alderaan
@alg44 & summers: No IIS is not needed. µtorrent serves the webui page using the webui.zip which is in the rar file in the first post of this topic and which has to be placed correctly or you will get a blank page. For more information read the readme.txt@ciarals: Which IP changes? Your PC's local IP or your router's internet IP? Former: Set a static local IP on your PC and portmap to that IP in your router.Latter: Use no-ip.org or a similar service. ( http://www.no-ip.com/services/managed_dns/free_dynamic_dns.html )@racing81: If you have a 'Alternate listening port' enabled for the webui in the µtorrent preferences disable it and internet webui access should work then and you can use the default µtorrent port for localhost webui access too. ciarals
My PC's local IP changes. The router has been configured using OpenDNS, so I think it's okay. How can I make static the IP? If you need any parameters to answer me (my IP, etc...), please tell me...

adambot
@7even - yes you are able to specify port ranges, the syntax you have to use is this 192.168.1.0/24 (where the /24 specifies the amount of binary digits there are in the network address) this can also be used on a smaller range as well (for example if you wanted to only allow 6 hosts you would use 192.168.1.0/29 and that would allow 192.168.1.1-6; if you wanted to allow 6 hosts and they were in a higher range your address would look like this: 192.168.1.104/29 and that would allow 192.168.1.105-110)Here is a link that allows you to calculate this information pretty quickly:http://www.subnet-calculator.com/

Lord Alderaan
@ciarals: http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm@racing81: Sadly no. If you are sure it is mapped correctly and you are sure about your internet IP (http://www.whatismyip.com) it should work. You could try enabling an alternative listening port for webui and map that one in your router and use that to connect. The location you are trying to connect from might also be interfering...@jasonpeinko: If you have the µtorrent port mapped correctly (aka being connectible) you can use the url http://yourip:µtorrentport/gui/ where yourip can be found out by visiting http://www.whatismyip.com and the µtorrentport can be found in the speed guide... rserling
Is the Web UI built in to the latest uTorrent release (1.6.1)? I have settings for it in Preferences, but trying to connect remotely results in a blank page (after login prompt).
schnurlos
rserling, read this post: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=14565and yes, the actual 1.6.1 build 490 supports the webui
rserling
First, thanks to everyone involved for the great efforts and patience on this.schnurlos: Terribly sorry to ask, and this is not a rhetorical or sarcastic question, but are you implying that I should read through 29 pages of random forum postings, back in time 6 months and n releases, to find the single piece of information I'm looking for? Your link took me to the start of this thread. After slogging through the first 13 pages or so (and double-checking it's not April 1 today), I was not able to clearly determine whether the oft-mentioned readme was part of the separate webui download or the latest full program release. And, if it is still required to copy webui.zip to %AppData%, couldn't that be in the main web FAQ, instead of being buried in the readme, buried in a folder? Finally, it would help to have a WEB LINK to a copy of the almighty readme, for those who are trying to test from a location other than the local host where it resides. Then, every time you chastise people for not reading it, you can also point to it, and then you can REALLY get pissy with others for not having read it. Oh did I say that out loud? ciarals
@Lord Alderaan: I've already have my computer configured with that guide. This is the fact why I don't know why my IP changes. Maybe I wasn't so cleared. My PC's IP doesn't change; is always the same. The IP that changes is the one that, to be clear, anyone can found at whatismyip.com (or things like that). Sorry, but I'm not so expert in these stuff... I think I have to set something in my Router or maybe in uTorrent, but I don't know what... Hope you can help me!EDIT: what about the tips written in the post about No-IP.com? Can that site be useful for me?
Lord Alderaan
@ciarals: Aha in that case you should indeed check out the no-ip.com thing. I haven't used it myself but lots of people (not only for webui or µtorrent) have used it with great satisfaction. Afaik it provides you with a url that will pretty much always refer to your computer even if your IP changes all the time. It requires some reading and setting up but I'm sure its worth it.Url again: http://www.no-ip.com/services/managed_dns/free_dynamic_dns.htmlI think you can then use http://no-ip_url:µtorrentport/gui to get to your webui.@rserling: I totally agree with you that the first post of this topic (which is what schnulos wanted to point to, not the whole topic) needs a serious rewrite to make things clearer. In short: The latest µtorrent supports the webui and has some options for it in preferences but you still need to download the webui itself from the first post in this topic. The .rar that you must download needs to be extracted and contains the readme.txt which needs to be read carefully and the webui.zip which needs to be placed correctly (next to settings.dat; usually %appdata%\utorrent).They didn't make its installation userfriendlier from when it was still closed beta. Technically its a open beta still which means things 'can' be complicated. The fact that the less technical savvy people are already using it is of course fantastic and is an obvious result from the add on the www.utorrent.com frontpage. However that does mean a flood of (for us) obvious questions. And that my friend leads to the dark side... eh... frustration. Which leads to referring to the readme.txt even if it was unreasonable to assume someone should have read it (which is caused mainly because the first post here isn't clear enough).
