dImItrIs69
* Different proxy servers for tracker/peer connections* Torrent creation: ignore files (thumbs.db, etc)* Different panels for downloading/uploading torrents* Efficient "block ip" manager (i like Azureus's manager)
Firon
Third isn't happening, fourth isn't happening.Proxying for peer communications isn't implemented, and I'm not sure there's any interest in implementing it.Second idea is good though. NiteShdw
Could you be more specific on your last request. Also, your request "Different proxy servers for tracker/peer connections" won't be added to the feature request list for the time being, since most proxies aren't meant to handle heavy p2p traffic. Firon
I think he means he wants an interface to edit ipfilter.dat, instead of having to use text editor or something. (a request I strongly disagree with, too many people misuse blocking IPs/peers)
slayers
My sentiments exactly, Firon.* I'm not sure about the need to have a second proxy for peer connections, why not just the same? Extending the proxy to peers has already been requested though.* I also like #2.* Don't even get started with #3, that was discussed extensively and it's pointless. We don't need an Azureus look-a-like, do we? uTorrent should be defining design, not following others.* And #4 is overkill when there are so much better tools that already exist to do that outside uTorrent. JigPu
...Isn't #2 the same thing as the "Do not download" option that uTorrent already provides?JigPu
ScubaSteve
he means when creating a torrent file for seeding not to include the thumbs.db that windows uses for caching thumbnails.
PlayWithFire
sounds like #3 has been asked and denied? good, i like to have just one panel
Chewyfood
i prefer two panels.I really like how downloading torrents are on the top half of the window in azureus, and seeding torrents are in the lower half.If this client strives to be azureus then they should implement this simple feature.I too would like to seee a GUI for ip filtering. Azureus has it in its options. So that would be the proper place for it.Firon, let the people decide how they want to use it. Misuse...yeah...right. boo
came to think of it when I read nr 2, why not also make a function that doesn't download files with file/file-extension that are in a list in µTorrent.Which means you could ad =thumb.db*.js*.dlletc
Demon-boy
If this client strives to be azureus then they should implement this simple feature. But it doesn't. µTorrent is NOT 'Az-Lite', it's not trying to copy anything, just trying to be a damn good client on it's own merits. slayers
@boo: It's been requested already.
boo
ya, I thought it had, but when I search for example after thumb.db, the only result is my post, wierd anyway, it isn't added on the feature request poll
Sorel
I like option #2 * Torrent creation: ignore files (thumbs.db, etc)
splintax
* Torrent creation: ignore files (thumbs.db, etc)I like this idea a lot. Other files that may need to be ignored are desktop.ini, folder.jpg.. any others?* Efficient "block ip" manager (i like Azureus's manager)Easy work for developers? I don't think so, also I agree with Firon, use PeerGuardian / Protowall etc. if you are that concerned about blocking peers..
Firon
There's also Tiny BLM and BLM to handle ipfilter.dat if you insist on using it.
MrCoke
sorry to bump this but can we please have torrents being made ignore thumbs.db, folder.jpg etc... customizable, but at least block thumbs.db as default. it causes lots of problems on the site i'm on with clients re-downloading peices, never at 100% etc... Firon
the torrent maker already ignores thumbs.db
Ultima
Hm... Does it also ignore those stupid hidden files that Macs create after browsing any folder? My sister sometimes browses my shared folders (which I allow writing to -- a dropbox) on her Mac, and it creates the stupid .DS_store and whatnot...Edit: Erf I'd apply this "fix", but stupid Apple is unclear as to what "unexpected behavior" exactly is (one example isn't really enough =P)... Miffo
eh.. Just deny write access..
Ultima
You do notice I said I use it as a dropbox, right? And you do notice the intentional "which I allow writing to," yah? If I weren't using it as a dropbox (which entails that I have the shared folder writable), I'd have no reason to be annoyed.Either way, this wasn't a request, just an inquiry, so I'm not sure why a workaround is being suggested (I found one myself, just don't know the consequences of using it -.-). splintax
Makes sense to me. I see no reason not to be able to customize the list of ignored files. Thanks for implementing thumbs.db, btw, ludde.
StoicJester
i was under the impression that µTorrent only worked on windows right now?
Ultima
It works under Cedega (WineX). But I wasn't talking/asking about it working on Mac, just whether it ignored some Mac-created files ;P
chaosblade
Mac generates .DS_Store files just like windows generates thumb.db files, so if one is ignored, i guess so should the other. Ive seen then on torrents here and there.
