Wait what? Since when have you had to log in to torrent stuff? Mine's been working fine for years without doing that!

Re: µTorrent 3.1.2 stable (26821)

Still getting the GUI bug where torrents dissapear! I deleted the appdata utorrent folder, all utorrent files and started fresh. It's still happening!

http://i.imgur.com/ujKwJ.png

List mode just shows completely blank. Been happening for quite a few builds. I think 3.1.x and forward maybe even some 3.0 builds.

The only app I have installed is skins.

Hit the toggle torrent view button, scroll up to the top of the list, then toggle again. The button is in the upper right corner of the toolbar.

Does it ever turn green? If it does, you're probably okay.

But if it doesn't, it's probably Kaspersky's doing. Remove exceptions for uT, reboot, then recreate them. Make sure incoming AND outgoing TCP/UDP traffic is allowed.

I've been using utorrent for many years and do not come to the forums very ofter other than to tweek a setting as for the most part Utorrent has always worked fine for me. However I came here now as well to see why there was an update ever single day for 4 days now and did read the update lines posted. I am hoping when the last one in 3.1.2 line comes out it the updates will be less frequent like every 2 to 3 weeks. Updating everytime you are ready to start a torrent gets bothersome. But its free and it works.

You're complaining about bug fixes/updates to a torrent client? If you don't like fixes being pushed out, switch to a client that updates every few months and doesn't fix bugs quickly. I for one am glad all these fixes/updates are coming out. It only takes a few seconds to get updates.. you can always turn off automatic updates if you don't want to see the notice. Thanks for fixing/updating uTorrent on a frequent basis. smile

Who the hell is complaining? Obviously you didnt read my response clearly and if your responding to someone else I'm not sure of that either. Anytime someone posts something in a forum that isn't what you want to hear does not mean they are complaining... Its like I say it was only a bit bothersome just in the last four days but also I said it works and I've used it for years without problems. Whatever if you want to take that as a complaint then there is not point in ever having critical or normal discussions. I am quite aware they are fixing and updating problems and solutions with uTorrent. They have for years without having updates everyday and probably will continue without having updates everyday and I will continue to use it and recomend it.

Well that guy did not sound like he was complaining either. He was simply asking whats up and said thank you.

Exactly.

And ButterGun, the guy I responded to was obviously not liking the daily updates so he had a complaint about it. And now that you did mention it, I believe you also had a complaint. You said updating everytime you opened up uTorrent was getting "bothersome" which means it bothered you. People who aren't "bothered" by the daily/frequent updates wouldn't post about it in the forums saying they hope the updates go back to "2-3 weeks." These guys don't get enough thanks from us users, all they see is complaint after complaint.. the client being updated/fixed should not be one of those things users complain about. Like I said earlier, if you don't like the frequent updates you can always disable the automatic updates or switch to a less maintained client that doesn't fix bugs quickly.

Just what I mean. No he was NOT complaining nor was I. If one cannot even express an opinion inside my obvious praise for Utorrent without getting KneeJerk reactions from people like you who say 'if you dont like it your free to use other bitTorrents'... Like I never said I didnt like it and it is a bit bothersome that for RIGHT NOW they are updating every day but I doubt it will continue at that frequency. Its not a complaint.. it just how I feel. NOT ONCE DID I COMPLAIN ABOUT uTORRENT or say they shoud stop updating everyday or anything bad about it and I know what I am free to do without you telling me. I dont need to kiss someone's ass everytime I write something nor should I be a constaint complainer or whiner, which I am niether. If the fact that I said it was a bit bothersome comes across as a complaint to you is more your problem not mine and I darn sure do not see how the other guy was complaining who simply said: "Hello  I was wondering, i'm getting almost every day an anouncement that there is an upgrade and I keep installing. What is going on?  Thank you"
That sounds like a question to me. There is no need to be so sensitive everytime something is a little out of whack and someone ask about it. In all my years of using uTorrent I do not ever remember it being updated 4 days in a row like this but it does not stop me from using nor recomending it to my blog followers who ask me what is the best bittorrent out there. And I always tell them to read the forums and FAQs first before asking questions.

Re: µTorrent 3.1.2 stable (26821)

Well, normally we would batch updates and do an update once every week or so, but we decided it'd be better to just iterate quickly this time around and refresh daily with fixes for the things users report. We get feedback much more quickly this way too.

Re: µTorrent 3.1.2 stable (26821)

He WAS complaining and so were you. The fact that you are being overly defensive makes it seem even more so. Don't know why you are trying to deny something you did say. If I said, "This noise is bothersome to me, I hope it quiets down soon." That's a complaint on my part. So once again, you did have a complaint, but you have the right to do so. You also did say you want the updates to go back to "every 2-3 weeks" which means you don't want uTorrent to be updated daily/frequently. Those are your words, not mine.. you don't have to try to hide or lie about it. You have the right to say/complain about anything you want just like I have the right to tell people that they don't have to complain about the frequent updates. I even gave you a solution: Turn off automatic updates. That will solve your "bothersome" problem.

Firon, users for the most part appreciate quick fixes/updates to a client we use on a daily basis. It means the team is working hard and trying to make the best client possible and trying to make it as polished as possible. I would much rather have fixes daily because that will address problems fast and avoid any problems on private trackers or other websites. Thank you again. big_smile

Re: µTorrent 3.1.2 stable (26821)

Issue: All loaded torrents are duplicated.

Something happened between µTorrent 3.1.2 build 26746 - 26753.

Build 26746: 1 721 torrents.
Build 26753: 3 442 torrents.

I've tried following without success:

Remove *.OLD from resume_dir.
Store .torrents in static paths instead of relative, e.g. .\torrents to X:\torrents
Changed Advanced Options: resume.dir_only = false

There are 1721 resume-files.
Opened resume.dat in Notepad2, no duplicates when searching for any torrent-name.
Not sure what the global_resume.dat contains or what it does, haven't tried rename it.

I've reverted back to build 26746 atm, where it works.

Thanks.

Great jeebus.  You guys really screwed the pooch on this.  I think you've released a new version everyday for a week now.  Maybe you should make the stable version the last one that worked and quit using us as beta testers.

I've enabled following under Directories.

Put new downloads in: D:\Download\Torrent\
Store .torrents in: .\torrents
Move .torrents for finished jobs to: .\complete

But doesn't matter if it's static or relative paths.
And I use settings.dat in same folder as utorrent.exe

Re: µTorrent 3.1.2 stable (26821)

OK, time to (re?)report a long-standing problem I've been having with uTorrent 'hanging' every now an then, as it as been getting worse lately. Basically, if I start up uTorrent and leave it running, every once in a while all traffic will suddenly drop to 0 and stay there indefinitely. The program window is responsive, I can check on all sorts of statistics, but there are three key factors that tell me something is wrong. First, nothing gets done; as I said, download and upload both drop to 0 and stay there. Second, my internet connection is taken down with it. Third, and most annoying, the only way to end uTorrent is to restart my computer. I can tell it to exit, but nothing happens. If I open up process explorer and tell it to end process (or process tree or whatever), nothing happens. Even logging off does no good. There seems to be one condition or factor that triggers these episodes: uTorrent has to be competing with something for bandwidth. My maximum connection speed (up and download added together) is around 1 MB/s as established by regular torrent use, so if either uTorrent's usage doesn't go that high (not often) or I don't use the internet while it is using that bandwith (annoying but far more frequent) then I'm generally OK. If, however, I forget uTorrent is running and open up Firefox for instance, somewhere along the line I'll usually be rudely interrupted by a 'connection timed out' screen, and sure enough uTorrent has crashed my connection again. My stopgap solution to this mess has been to run uTorrent when I'm sleeping, and until now that's worked relatively well (though not perfectly). This time, however, I see my uTorrent capping at 200-400KB/s, suggesting to me that other members of my family appear to be using significant amounts of bandwidth as well (who knows, maybe even uTorrent). The problem is that this usage seems to fulfill the 'bandwidth competition' clause that I noted seems to be the trigger for the crashes, and now uTorrent has taken to fouling up within the hour on average. As it is not practical for me to sit here and prod my computer every time it conks out, and I cannot reasonably ask my family not to use the internet, I'm hoping we can get this thing fixed once and for all.
Additional data:
-Windows 7 64-bit administrator account, no antivirus/firewall/etc. software that might block connections
-Bluetooth-WiFi interference was once implicated as a culprit, and I have since switched to a wired connection (powerline adapter) to no apparent effect.
-I am unable to reach my router (192.168.1.1) when my connection breaks.
-uTorrent has died again as of my typing these words.

After installation of 26753 I've got report: V8 bundle: Failed to set bundle offset. I guess this is related to Plus bundle.
