Zarggg
That's just bad networking. You should NEVER use the "localhost" hostname for ANYTHING other than 127.0.0.0/8Btw, unless uTorrent were specifically configured to look for a hostname called "localhost" when resolving, that's not something you can really catch dynamically, since the IP address itself is reporting "localhost" as its hostname (as per the PTR records). moogly
Yeah and it's a non-bug completely useless, nothing to fix here.
420
That's just bad networking. You should NEVER use the "localhost" hostname for ANYTHING other than 127.0.0.0/8I never said I did. I wrote "Now instead of an actual IP address, it has my computer's localhost.""my computer's localhost" ... not my computer's name, "localhost". For the record, no, my computer is not named "localhost". I just didn't wanna give away my actual localhost name. Jeez, some of you guys really oughta learn how to read. And, it should be very easy to make µTorrent show the IP instead of resolving it in this case. The other peer has a different version of µTorrent with a different port, and it has an external IP address which is different from mine, plus doesn't every peer have a unique ID? I'm pretty sure µTorrent is able to differentiate between my own local computer and an outside peer.Anyway, yeah, no big deal at all and there are much more important things to be worked on. It was just an interesting find...that's all.
Cage22
What's the difference between local host and computer name?
Zarggg
@420: I never said you did, either. That was the plural "you" (as in "all of you", as in "everyone"). I could have said "one should never..." but I figured people would understand this and not get all upset over nothing.@Cage22: localhost is a reserved hostname, which means 127.0.0.1 subnet mask 255.0.0.0. Your computer's name is usually a domain.
420
lol fair enough. I know I only quoted your post but I was also referring to this:What's more, if your computer is named something other than "localhost", you'll actually see your own computer's name in the peers list if you have "Resolve IPs" turned on and you're connected to a peer like that!I did actually see my own computer's name in the peers list because my computer is not named "localhost". That's what I wrote in my post...people just interpreted it wrong.I guess I should be more specific next time.

Die Coulombs
On my XP Pro XP3 machine, has anyone else noticed in the latest build that uTorrent doesn't close (the uTorrent process, using latest version of Sysinternals Process Explorer to verify) after the application is closed from the menu? Even after all disk cache's are flushed and all work is done, the process just sticks around. I have to kill the PID manually within process explorer. Tadanga
There should be a way to uninstall the apps from µtorrent itself.I installed Virus Guard but when I saw how much memory it uses (200 Mb) I had to go through Windows control panel to uninstall it. DreadWingKnight
uTorrent isn't responsible for installing or uninstalling anything other than itself.

RyanJones
I've noticed something. If you right click and exit utorrent from the taskbar icon when the main window is open - it doesn't always close the main window which leads to a crash. articuno1au
I can confirm: Die Coulombs earlier report. If you add a torrent manually, it isn't shown on the uTorrent torrent frame until you manually refresh it (i.e. Click the torrents tree on the left).Missing an update call somewhere? Logging is not set to verbose, nor are any logging options checked. In addition, files that were in a folder when the torrent was created ALL get tagged as .!ut on startup, even when the files are complete. I suppose I could just turn off that option, but that just hides the problem. I've lost track of how many builds have past where this doesn't change.EDIT: I forgot to mention that this happens on both XP SP3 32-bit, and Win7Ult 32-bit.
