funchords
So Bitme said "Bite me." Oh boy!
Honeyfrog
I also got banned on a significant tracker for asking why 1.7 was banned. Now is the hour for all men of sound and virtuous character to foreswear ever again creating a torrent without DHT enabled, or patronizing the "middlemen" of narcissistic, misanthropic hosting sites. (Bittorrent is a technology to foster file-sharing; which is why it's just mind-boggling how some contort themselves to not share their torrents.) BasilBrush
Just changed back to 1.7.1 from 1.6.1. Previously had 1.7.1.Logging message reports something like "integrity check failed changing back from v1.6.1" when re-starting the torrent with v1.7.1.Another logging message says that this error/warning can be ignored.Any comment ? avatarl
I'd love to hear a valid explanation for the various bans.
Primus
Basil: As I recall, there was a change to the preferences file during the 1.7 beta which caused this error to show up. It's non-fatal and can be ignored safely.
robincheema
can utorrent release new version with all the stuff that is casing these bans fixed?
Switeck
The feature being blamed for the ban can be disabled. It also isn't doing what the people who banned it SAYS it is doing, however perhaps local peer discovery could be programmed to not be done on 'private' torrents by default. Ultima
@robincheema: Would you please understand that there is nothing wrong with µTorrent as is with regards to the bans?
Dutchman
Also here in the Netherlands 1.7.1 is banned at several private trackers."New story now is that Utorrent has been solled to Bram Cohen (ex p2p guy) who is now working for MPAA. MPAA is working together with Dutch 'Brein'. There are also rootkits and spyware etc included in the new version".What's the truth about the above story? Ultima
The truth is, the tracker administrators haven't done their research. What tracker is this?
Dutchman
That´s not an answer on my questions. Can you please clearify what is the true story.
Ultima
http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=26561It has been answered various times already. The tracker admins have not done their research, and are sheepishly following other tracker administrators in banning for no reason. µTorrent does not spy on its users, period.Direct the administrators to these 2 posts:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=262771#p262771http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=263170#p263170

TheGift73
The biggest changes were full Vista support and the removal of the 65,536 piece limit for torrents.I know absolutely nothing about how you guys went about building this amazing client, but the number 65,536 is also the maximum amount of rows in Excel (not including Office 2007 which carries 1 million). Does that number have any bearing? And loving the new version by the way. Thank you.Richard
Switeck
That is the amount of possibilities that can be represented by a 16-bit value. ...Or in another programming term, an unsigned short integer.
TheGift73
Ah, thanks for the reply. I was just wondering.
Samir1975
µTorrent 1.7.1 is already banned on some trackers, midnight-torrents says that it don't work proper, it reports wrong status to tracker. hope that the problem will be fixed so soon. Firon
Samir1975: please inform them that that was a bug with 1.7. 1.7.1 was released to explicitly fix the stats bug.
Samir1975
thanks, the 1.71 is allowed now.
Ultima
@TheGift73: 65536 happens to be the maximum integer value a 16-bit integer can hold (216).
Hyosung
@Dutchman:"New story now is that Utorrent has been solled to Bram Cohen (ex p2p guy) who is now working for MPAA. MPAA is working together with Dutch 'Brein'. There are also rootkits and spyware etc included in the new version".Anyone else not bringing up that 'solled' is incorrectly spelled? 'Sold' so if it is 'real' don't you think it would at least be spellchecked?Anyway... On my 3 private trackers uTorrent hasn't been banned...
