µTorrent 3.0 alpha 20759

2.1 is now 3.0, since the inclusion of µTorrent Web and streaming are such major features! https://web.utorrent.com/

As before, this is not feature complete, but many exciting new features have been added to this version: a new, encrypted webUI that doesn't require port forwarding called µTorrent Web; many improvements to the standard WebUI backend; streaming; and a new, optional (non-default) simplified UI.

EDIT: Solution is that I ran the 2.1 build 16650 (falcon) before with falcon enabled. Starting 16932 (where falcon is "hidden") it tries to connect to the falcon server.
If you have thees messages too, run the 16650 and disable falcon before running 16932!

Thanks to Ultima!

For the sake of consistency, the changelog reads as Beta smile

Re: µTorrent 3.0 alpha 20759

One thing I noticed is my settings seem to have been 'broken'.
[07:38:42]  Error -1 occurred while attempting to get stream metainfo

Cause the way I have the torrents laid out just aren't right, as it seems to have reset to default and shows close to all information instead of the way I had it customized.

---
EDIT:
And it definitely overwrote my settings since reverting back to 2.0 Beta stays the same, opposed to going to how my settings were as to what was shown.

Re: µTorrent 3.0 alpha 20759

So, 2.1 alpha means 2.0 final has been skipped?
2.1 alpha is a bug fix ver of 2.0 series?

Re: µTorrent 3.0 alpha 20759

Firon can you clarify situation with uT vesions? we had 1.9 alpha, then 2.0 beta, now 2.1 alpha, meanwhile several 1.8.stable releases. Why skip 1.9 stable? Will 2.0 stable be released? What new features are planned for 2.1? Will we see IPv6-capable DHT for example?

Re: µTorrent 3.0 alpha 20759

@alex14san: The situation with 1.9 and 2.0 was made clear.

1.9->2.0, meaning that 1.9 had enough changes made to make it worthy of being '2.0'. So 2.0 replaced 1.9 and that is the current Beta.

And for 1.8, any changes are mainly to fix bugs only.

Not 100% sure if 2.0 will have any additional features added, given that now 2.1 Alpha is out.

Just happy nonetheless that they are making changes and having frequent updates.

Re: µTorrent 3.0 alpha 20759

@moogly: Ahh, thanks for the post. Well that clears it, in a sense, that both 1.8 / 2.0 are more devoted on getting things fixed... and all new features will be added onto 2.1, which seems to make sense.

Re: µTorrent 3.0 alpha 20759

A couple of questions about 2.1:

1. Can someone elaborate on the DNA feature that, as I understand, was embedded in this release ?
http://www.bittorrent.com/dna?csrc=splash
http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php … 99#p432499
- The exact functionality and interaction with uT
- the possible user-control over it (enabled/disable)
- the estimated overhead caused by it  (CPU, bandwidth, RAM)
- any known security/privacy issues

2. At the time, some RSS enhancements - where planned to go into this release. What are those planned to be in 2.1 ?
here is the list that was sent to the devs at the time:

1.
uT 2.1 like 1.9 & 2.0 didnt respect upload limit...
limit set to 15kB/s and uT uploading 25-30kB/s ;p

2.
I get many errors like this
[2009-10-17 11:22:39]  Error -1 occurred while attempting to get stream metainfo

3.
I get hangs when I first start uT 2.1
probably because uT 2.1 started check files integrity....
but next time when I force close uT and do manually force check integrity uT when I get it minimazed didnt response to maximize and use 50% CPU on E6650...

Re: µTorrent 3.0 alpha 20759

i get great speeds with this build, its amazing smile

the only thing i noticed is the reduced DHT count in the uT's status bar, on 1.8 i was getting 300+ while now it stays at 150+.

also two GUI bugs: when browsing torrents by labels and then clicking on the 'all' field on the left panel nothing changes. the second one is the blue wave icon above the 'all feeds' field cut in half by the separator line

will stick with this build for now
--------------------------------------------------------------

edit: the DHT is back to normal, and the 'label' - 'all' switching works, sorry
